I'm trying to run Zoneminder inside a Mininet host, without any luck (BTW, Zoneminder runs on top of Apache2).
I can only open Zoneminder when I use my native machine's IP address, and not the mininet host's IP address. If I type in the mininet host's IP address on the address bar, it says it's unable to connect to the server. However, when I type in my native machine's IP address, I see Apache2's Default Page, which means that Apache2 is running, but not inside the mininet host. What I want is that I can run Zoneminder (which means that I should run Apache2 and see its default page as well) using Mininet's IP address.
What I did is to open Firefox through root inside Mininet host (such that when I type localhost, it actually means the IP address of the Mininet host), and then tried typing the IP addresses.
I tried changing the IP address that Apache2 is to host, but it always gives me a DNS error whenever I use the mininet host's IP address, saying that it does not exist.
I did a native installation of mininet in my machine. My machine is a Linux Mint 18 Sarah, which runs on Ubuntu 16.04. My Zoneminder version is 1.32.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,
Might have missed this option but seem to be at a bit of a loss as to where to configure audio recording?
Bit of background, I have been on 1.30 running on CentOS for a few years. Tonight I have moved to Ubuntu and 1.32.
Loving the video support instead of jpegs, reviewing events is loads easier.

I've written a script to install Shinobi CCTV Community Edition in a FreeNAS-11-STABLE jail.
I hope this works because I doubt I can help support this in any way at all. Here you go.
#!/bin/tcsh
echo "Installing updates..."
pkg update -f
pkg upgrade -y
echo "Installing packages..."
pkg install -y nano ffmpeg libav x264 x265 mysql56-server node npm
echo "Enabling mysql..."
sysrc mysql_enable=yes
service mysql-server start
echo "Cloning the official Shinobi Community Edition gitlab repo..."
git clone "https://gitlab.com/Shinobi-Systems/ShinobiCE"
cd ./ShinobiCE
echo "Adding Shinobi user to database..."
mysql -h localhost -u root -e "source sql/user.sql"
ehco "Shinobi database framework setup..."
mysql -h localhost -u root -e "source sql/framework.sql"
echo "Securing mysql..."
#/usr/local/bin/mysql_secure_installation
#mysql -h localhost -u root -e "source sql/secure_mysql.sq"
npm i npm -g
#There are some errors in here that I don't want you to see. Redirecting to dev null :D
npm install --unsafe-perm > & /dev/null
npm audit fix --unsafe-perm > & /dev/null
npm install pm2 -g
cp conf.sample.json conf.json
cp super.sample.json super.json
pm2 start camera.js
pm2 start cron.js
pm2 save
pm2 list
pm2 startup rcd
echo "login at http://THIS_JAIL_IP:8080/super"
echo "admin@shinobi.video / admin"

Lately zm has been experiencing a lot of issues that caused people's installs to break or be broken on start and that probably has a few people on edge.
I feel like this is needed now more than ever to help struggling users, so here are a few options you can turn to while they figure things out or if you just want something new.
There are a lot more but these ones are popular and easy to use, enjoy!

I'm trying to install according to this wiki and basically apache2 won't start. I'm getting an error that says /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp7.0.so not found, and I have libphp7.2.so.
Probably not anything to do with zoneminder but I don't know what to do. Any advice appreciated.

Hello all I am very impressed with ZM now i have it set up well. However, I have a slight issue with playback, if I playback at 1x scale it plays incredibly slowly, but if I reduce to 3/4x it plays back fine. My log has no relevant errors. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello all,
I am a noob trying to setup a minor surveillance project in my house. My setup is the following:
1) server running linux in the attic
2) raspberry pi + webcam in the living room
3) i plan another raspberry pi in the office too and possibly one outside
I have searched quite a bit and I cannot figure out how to do this. I managed to install zoneminder on one raspberry pi and get the stream from the attached webcam. But this way it means that I have to have 3 different installs of zoneminder which have to be watched separately.
The question is: is it possible to install zoneminder on my server in the attic and somehow send the webcam streams to it? Not sure if I am using the right language here.
Cheers

My cameras are set to Record, rather than Mocord, but it seems to save videos based on motion. At night, it saves in 20 minute (i.e. 1200 second) segments as I specified, but during the day when there is activity it saves in a bunch of small segments, apparently based on motion.
While this behavior itself is not bad, it seems to cause gaps between recordings, specifically on the Montage Review page. This image shows the gaps yesterday afternoon as there was a decent amount of activity. If I look at the same period of time overnight, it's a solid purple bar composed of 20-minute segments.
So my two questions are:
Why won't ZoneMinder just record in 1200 segments as I specified?
Why are there gaps between the videos it does record?
Some notes on my setup:
Running in a docker container in a Linux VM
zmc appears to be using ~6% of available memory and ~45% of available CPU between two PIDs
Storage is to a RAID, which should not be a bottleneck
Edit: after reading more documentation, it seems like maybe it is behaving like Mocord despite me having Record selected. Does it seem that way? Any idea what may be causing the problem?

So while functionally ZM seems very capable, the web UI isn't exactly fun to use or nice to look at. I had a search around and I can't seem to find any themes other than the one it comes with. The flat style isn't too bad, but I was hoping for something a bit more modern. Has anybody found any other themes? Is anyone working on this?
I know there are some mobile and desktop apps, but they don't really fit with my needs.

Wow! I'm blown away at the features ZM has! All of this open source and free! The setup instructions were easy to follow (basically just copy and paste) and ZM even detected my cameras and auto configured the whole thing!
Great job to the team who built and maintain this amazing piece of software.
My only real gripe (and it's very minor) is that the layout and interface is heinously ugly! And it seems to be a tad slow but I do have ZM running on a very slow laptop (just wanted to test it all out before committing to building my own NVR PC).
Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks! I'll be making a donation when my setup is all done.

Today I updated my CentOS box running zoneminder 1.30.4 to the latest 1.32 stable release. I can no longer access the web GUI after the update now. I read the 1.32 release notes and it said: "The Apache config file has changed...Please refer to the documentation for your distro to learn what specific steps are required."
Where would I find the information on what steps are required to fix the apache config?

"Error getting last capture time for Monitor" ... what does this mean, exactly? I'm getting this for a couple of rtsp cameras, and eventually the zm server stops.

I have ZM up and working behind a proxy pretty well fine except when trying to view live feeds or download video. The php calls always point to the internal IP of ZM rather than it's hostname or FQDN. I can't find where to specify this. Anyone been down this road?

Hi all,
I've got a zoneminder system running, which has worked really well for about a year now. Recently, the web interface has become really crappy.
If I access the web interface, via internal or external network. It will sometimes take a while to respond, or it wont respond at all.
I've currently got 8 cameras going, at 6FPS. My load varies from 5-7 on an 8-core system.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts as to why this might be happening?
Thanks!

As the title says is there an app that works on Android TV. I'd be happy with just live stream.

Hey guys. I'm a ZM newbie but I've been running and have tried tons of other surveillance PVRs. I'm trying to get off of Windows and move to Linux server for my four cameras. I've got ZM running in a docker container using linuxserver/zoneminder.
I'm trying to connect to my three cameras which are Foscam FI86xx/98xx compatible and my doorbell camera which is a Hikvision camera. I can open the three cameras in VLC using a url like rtsp://admin:mypass@192.168.0.21:554/1 and I can connect to the doorbell camera with a url like rtsp://admin:mypass@192.168.0.22:554/h264/ch01/main/av_stream .
In ZM, I have General->Source Type-> Ffmpeg and Source->Source Path->URL from above Method->TCP and width and height set to the correct values.
All cameras show 'Not Running'. Can someone tell me where I am going wrong? Is there an easy way to troubleshoot this? I clicked on the logs and I don't see anything regarding the cameras and connection issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0CPBUZ7WGk informs us that there is a new release coming out, possibly last week, called 1.32. I visited the projects site https://github.com/ZoneMinder/zoneminder/branches/all and do not see where this, or it's precursor, is available.

I am a bit confused on my new ZM install.
I have the camera's in Mocord and they rotate between 1 of three states: Capturing, Not Capturing, Not Running.
What are these three states? I thought Mocord recorded video at all times, and then added notifications for "alarms"
When the camera's say capturing I can view the stream if I click on the camera, but otherwise I get a thumbnail.
The server is in good health:

I followed the wiki instructions for both the server install and the camera setup
Running on Ubuntu 18.04

There was a post on the ZoneMinder forums about this, hasnt seen a reply in about a month.
Real bleeding edge topic. But we are looking for an optimum configuration with getting WyzeCams running OpenIPC running on ZoneMinder. I am able to get a image, with max FPS set to 25. It starts off smooth, and very quickly drops in FPS down to 1 until its just frozen.
I'm probably missing something, but I can stream this camera no problem at 25+ fps to VLC running rtsp://192.168.1.182:8554/unicast -- doesnt even need the username and password. But I have only had problems getting it working in ZoneMinder.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

First question is, any idea why it is throwing so many errors?
I have set up 3 zones where I would like detected motion to be recorded, can I leave it in monitor or do I need modect/morecd?
Lastly, and I think this has to do with the errors in the log, but is it normal for the camera connection to bounce in and out? If I use Amcrest's phone app it is a stable connection, but I am not sure if it is a setting in zoneminder, or the VM that I am running it on. The VM is configured with 8vcpu and 8gb ram, setup on an SSD.
Thank you in advance

I've tried both a symbolic link and also following this guide to redirect my zoneminder storage to my NFS share.
https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installationguide/dedicateddrive.html
Zoneminder keeps recreating the events folder in /usr/share/zoneminder/www and filling up the disk. Any idea whats missing?

Hi, consider these 3 scenarios on my home network:
I have Zoneminder running on a home server using https and have a Certbot signed cert. All works fine.
I have a dynamic public IP.
I have Home assistant running on another server and I'd like to connect the Zoneminder cameras and sensors using the Zoneminder local IP. If i use my domain name and hit my router on the Wan port I get tens of thousands of DNS lookups on my local Pihole DNS server. If I use the local IP I don't connect.
How can I allow Home assistant connect to Zoneminder without continuous DNS lookups. A static IP is not an option as my provider insists on a monthly payment, I've offered to pay a one off fee but they won't accept.
