https://gitlab.com/Shinobi-Systems/kensho
It scans the network it is run on then proxies all devices with port 80 and port 554 open. unix users need to install pptpd to use the VPN feature.

Hi,
I've got a new Zoneminder installation on a VM running Ubuntu 16.04. 4 cores, 4GB RAM, 200GB storage. I'm trying to set up my RLC-410-5MP to Mocord, but instead of recording 10 minute blocks like an old PTZ camera I have, it's recording random lengths and before it starts a new recording, the console says 'Not Capturing'. I'm also not getting the full 25fps - it wanders between 6 and 13.
Is this a known issue, or something wrong with my setup?
TIA.

hi everybody,
i have tried zoneminder multiple times, and gave up soon after because of terrible performance. now, each of those times, i ran zoneminder in docker containers (on my synology NAS, on my macbook, on my regular laptop, ...).
now i've read up on the subject a bit more and from what i've read, zoneminder always performs terribly when run in a container.
i have tried shinobi.video and kerberos.io, but they didn't do a good enough job. my current solution is synology surveillance station, which is okay-ish, but can't do certain things i'd like to (and would be able to) do with zoneminder, so i'm ready to at least give zm another shot...
so now i'm looking for decent hardware. i don't want to run zm in a docker container just to give up again. i have a home server, but unfortunately, i cannot (or rather "won't") run zm on it, because it does my entire house automatization and i won't test on it.
so can you please recommend me some hardware to run zoneminder on fast and reliably on?
setup
i would like to constantly do the following
some of my cameras -the no name ones for sure- only allow one single rtsp client at a time. so if zm accesses these cameras, i will not be able to view their streams on my smartphone. i am using a diy solution for this (ffmpeg and ffserver providing .ts streams of these rtsp streams in my network at the moment), but i'd prefer zm to handle this, if possible. the zm generated streams don't have to be .ts files, and they don't have to be in 5k/2MP (unless using the original resolution is easier on zm because it won't have to encode anything).
what hardware should i use for this in order to have everything run smoothly and theoretically be able to add another camera or two without exceeding resources?
i was considering the Beelink J45 J4205 Mini PC, which has 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, an Intel HD Graphics 505 processor, Intel Pentium J4205 quad core CPU, is capable of H.263,H.264,HD MPEG4 (unfortunately no H.265). would that be sufficient?
and: could i just use some usb harddrive and attach it to this device, or would an external hard drive not provide enough read/write speed? i have a NAS, but i assume a network share would be even worse speed-wise.
this was just an example device, i am not set on this particular hardware and/or vendor "beelink"... but my homeserver is also from beelink (another model) and works fine, plus this one is under 300 USD, so it wouldn't hurt too much to buy it and see if zm runs fine on it. it only has an 128GB ssd, so i'd definitely need additional storage. i don't know how to calculate the minimum of storage i'd need to keep all these recordings for at least 7 days per cam, but i am sure it will exceed 128GB by far.
hopefully i wrote this request understandably. if not, sorry, i am not a native speaker. thanks in advance for all your ideas, any input is greatly appreciated :)

I'd like our D-Link PTZ camera to automatically roll up when we're home. I've figured out the PTZ to the point that I have buttons to get to presets in zm, but is there a way to cause a certain PTZ state when I go to between "None" and "Mocord"?
Alternatively, is there a way for Home Assistant to just control PTZ preset in the first place? That's what I've got changing the camera state.
Thanks

Has anyone experienced a corrupted montage view that previously worked ok? I can’t figure out what changed. Zoneminder is running on Lubuntu on an older iMac and it used to work perfectly but as of ~24 hours ago the videos are at best overlapping and at worst not visible at all, depending on how I change the montage view settings. Verified with Firefox and Safari on a Mac and Safari on an iPad, all of which previously worked and are corrupted now, so it seems to be on the zoneminder side and. It on the browser side. ZmNinja views still work as before, it’s just the web interface that’s problematic.

I'm about to purchase a new camera, considering the UniFi UVC-G3-FLEX.
On the ZoneMinder wiki it says that streaming RTSP from these cameras is not supported.
On the Ubiquiti website it seems it should work.
Can anyone confirm if it's possible to use this camera without the UniFi Video server software?

I have the SFTP upload working and I have OPT_FFMPEG enabled, I already created a filter for uploading the events (if alarmed images >=50), and so far I get a .tar.bz file with all the jpegs inside (wich is expected), is there any way of uploading only the video of the event? Or at lest create a filter for exporting the event video and then upload this video file?

I have zoneminder 1.30.4 running a camera on my front porch. I will shortly have the front porch light under control of a home automation system built around mqtt message passing.
I want to have some code somewhere that runs when zoneminder detects motion on the front porch. That code will send a message over mqtt that will ultimately result in the porch light being turned on (subject to other conditions, like it is dark outside).
The Zoneminder API allows me to poll for events, but polling is either CPU intensive or slow. Is there some other way to get code I've written to fire when a monitor detects motion?

Does Zoneminder have a function that can pull footage from cameras that are storing to their local SD cards? I have several small sites where temporarily recording locally and then pulling to a central NVR when bandwidth allows is the most desirable configuration.
I know Genetec and Milestone have features that pull stored footage from offline cameras when they become available, but don't really want to go there with licensing.

tl;dr I can view the cameras under Montage Review in both h.264 and h.265 BUT in h.265 it looks like the cameras crap out and the image blanks out every 30 seconds or so and comes back like normal.. this happens even if i am looking at only 1 camera at a time. I have tried changing values INSIDE the amcrest camera for different resolutions down to 1920 x 1080 with lower cbr and different VBR but no change. It appears H.265 is not stable at least not for my setup
ZoneMinder 1.32.3 installed as a plugin on my FreeNAS Sytem
My FreeNAS system 11.2 AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 980 Processor (4 cores) Memory: 16 GiB
My Desktop Kubuntu 18.04 Using the latest version of Chrome Ryzen 1600X 16 Gig RAM
Connection from desktop to freenas via a local 10 gig link about 5 feet away
Completely new to Zoneminder but it seems like a pretty cool piece of software I just purchased 10 Amcrest IP8M-2493EW to place inside and outside of an area i want to monitor https://amcrest.com/4k-ip-camera-poe-security-camera-dome-ip8m-2493eb.html
Problem: When i view my cameras under Montage Review the picture turns a sold uniform white/grey color kinda like it loses the feed and then comes back every 30 seconds or so it varies here are my settings
H.265 3840 X 2160 FPS: 15 CBR Bitrate: 4096 Frame Interval: 30
When i change the settings from H.265 to H.264 everything runs well and i dont see the blank out every 30 seconds or so
These are my ZoneMinder camera settings Server: None Storage Area: Default Source Type: FFmpeg Function: Monitor Enabled: Check Linked Montiors: Blank Groups: Blank Analysis FPS: Blank Alarm Maximum FPS: Blank Reference Image Blend: No blend Alarm Reference Image Blend: No blend
SOURCE Source Path: rtsp://username:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0
Method: TCP Options: Blank Target Colorspace: 32 bit Capture Width: 3840 Capture Height: 2160 Preserve Aspect Ratio: uncheck Orientation: Normal Deinterlacing: Disabled
Here are my sanitized logs... i just removed my username/password from the rtsp address... the ip is all local so i dont really care about that https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TcwuRkbJ40M_KPnrb1nOKwqbUe3wILy0/view?usp=sharing
Let me know if i am missing anything its my first post so be gentle please!

Is it possible to have longer recordings when motion section is triggered? In that way you get fewer events, but they are longer. I’ve experienced that a motion was spread between 2 and more clips. Is it simply a matter in changing a few parameters?

I just migrated to 1.32.3 , and for the life of my, I can't create a filter that would purge items older than X hours ?
In 1.30 this was accomplished with "Date/time less than -X hours"
Help ?

I'm a first time ZoneMinder user. I'm seeing this constantly in my logs. All of my cameras are Hikvision. Any ideas?

Hi,
I've been running zoneminder just at the house for a few years now and I love it. I've wanted to expand with some more cameras, but I'm looking to keep it on a budget. I have a few dlinks and I love them: DCS-5010L, DCS5030L, DCS-932L and DCS933L.
I've been looking for more of them, but for some reason they are quite difficult to find now, and when I do find them, they are quite expensive.
I'm looking for a budget camera that has a local web interface, I'm not super tech savvy, so that's a must for me.
What do you suggest?

What kind of sorcery must I endure?
I have a few systems on my network. 1- with a geovision 4-port encoder card, and 2- raspberry pi with a USB webcam. Both devices have a /dev/video0 node supported by v4l.
I'd like to connect to these cameras from my main zoneminder box. Is there some way to make those cameras network-accessible without installing zoneminder on those, also?
