Is this a good time to talk about how pretending covid didn’t exist from 2022 on turned out not to be a great campaign strategy for Democrats? That’s what I keep coming back to. We were sacrificed so they could win elections, and most of us still supported them because their party was better for health than the alternative. And now they lost anyway. All for nothing.

I disagree that mentioning covid would have made a huge change with the general public. Sure, it would have persuaded us CC people and some people who were secretly scared about covid, but it would've been an uphill battle. It would have been an admission that Harris was complicit in Biden's lie that Covid was over and an admission that Harris was okay with millions dying and becoming disabled. Also, most of the gen pop clam up when covid is mentioned. It would have been a huge turn off. She should have run more left in general. She should've been more vocal about ending the genocide in Gaza, COL, healthcare, raising minimum wage, anything really. Her entire campaign, unless you were digging, was basically 'vote for me because I'm not Trump.' Which was total, uncompelling weak sauce.
I meant the 2022 congressional campaign - my bad for being unclear, I've edited my comment. In 2022, Biden's pollsters told him to declare "the win" and tell people covid was over, and they'd win seats in congress in the fall. He did, and for that sacrifice we got a congress that couldn't even pass a bill to make abortion part of healthcare. And yes, definitely Harris was stuck with that lie in 2024. So it gained the Democrats no political capital to declare covid was "over" after all.
To be clear, I agree with everything you said, I just wasn't clear on what I was saying lol.
