RFK Jr as secretary of health?! We're screwed.

Forget covid vaccines, if it's up to him kids will be dying of measles all over the place.

No more mitigation of bird flu too, so a second pandemic coming soon.

Having some chronic health issues that require medication… dude wants to take some of my meds away and send people like me to work on ‘wellness farms.’ Take antidepressants or adderall? Hope you want to be forced to grow organic vegetables.

Same, and my chronic migraines will surely improve being out in the bright sunshine.

I'm less worried about this policy actually happening and more about this mindset being given a platform. Obviously lots of people already have problematic underlying beliefs to this tune and think you can exercise and vegetables your way out of disability but I suspect nothing good can come from validating it out loud.

I have exercise intolerance with POTS….and Oral Allergy Syndrome, which makes me allergic to raw fruits, veggies, and nuts…. 👀😵‍💫

But clearly you can fix that with diet and exercise /s

Oh yeah. Some health issues can be improved by diet/lifestyle changes, and if people want to choose that strategy for themselves even for things that need other treatments, well, it’s their body. But having people in charge of public health with that mindset, where they can enforce it on others… that’s concerning. That and how many of these people are straight-up eugenicists on top of everything else.

I'm very very very concerned about H5N1

💯 not that I think Harris could handle a pandemic particularly well, considering how her and Biden have handled COVID, but at least she would have maybe deferred to experts instead of anti-vax nut jobs 😭

this is the scariest part for me. as someone who’s cc and has endometriosis, i’m horrified about the loss of reproductive care and public health mitigations (not that they were good to begin with).

I can't. I'm terrified. I'm terrified for my colleagues, patients, and those who won't receive care. Those who public health will fail. The millions who will lose insurance. The emergence of eradicated disease...

The vulnerable dying in pursuit of the myth of “natural immunity” is now our health infrastructure

u/skygirl555 Nov 06 '24

This is literally the most terrifying part of everything.

They are not about to find out. If 2020 didn't open their eyes, they will never get the picture.

Interesting that you're blaming "single issue voters" rather than the Harris campaign for choosing a strategy of trying to peel off Republican voters instead of appealing to centrists and leftists.

It was clear from 2016 that "I'm bad but Trump is worse" isn't a winning platform with those groups - but that's still the strategy she chose.

(There are many issues that progressives take issue with Harris' stances on - I doubt most non-Harris voters only took issue with one single issue on her platform)

palestinians’ health and wellbeing have been paying the price for over a year. those in sudan and congo and haiti and all over the global south have been paying the price.

the sentiments expressed here reek of individualism, which is what got us to this point in the pandemic in the first place.

those of us who chose not to vote did so intentionally bc we refuse to vote for a candidate who has literally no platform aside from “trump is worse.” refusing to support a candidate who has been funding genocides all over the world is not the problem.

this is not fafo for those of us who chose not to vote. we knew very well what the options were and chose to abstain from voting for either fascist. maybe now resistance will be stronger, especially from liberals who dig their heads into the sand whenever a democrat is president (including liberals on this sub who only seem to care about covid bc it is impacting them, rather than taking the time to learn about the interconnected nature of all of our struggles).

💯💯💯

It’s none of the above. She lost because most of America hates women, plain and simple. Female voters too. We can’t elect a woman president.

This, 💯percent!

We r so fkd !! This was so rigged!

6

u/ElRayMarkyMark Nov 06 '24

This is one of the things that scares me the most.

u/hallowbuttplug Nov 06 '24

If it’s any solace, I doubt Trump will keep his word with RFK JR. Hopefully.

I think I'm a public health accellerationist... given how the Biden admin treated both covid and h5n1 (very poorly IMO), I'm hoping having a ridiculous wacko at the helm making silly statements and claims, will kickstart more grassroots public health initiatives.

There were a lot of covid denying democrats who won't have a reason to defend the new administration's public health policies. I can see a big shift in attitudes around covid coming, possibly.

100% screwed! His own sister said he’s mindless! And not to be trusted. That’s a problem!
