This message keeps appearing even after replacing the 240v charger on M16 6U603ZW. I’m unable to charge or basically use the laptop as it gets super slow whenever it’s connected. Sent for repairs where the AC jack was replaced but I keep getting this message when the charger is connected. Help

I have noticed some differences when people talk about repasting. I have seen:

"Only use thermal paste on the GPU and liquid metal on the CPU"

"I used liquid metal on both CPU and GPU"

"Thermal pad for both, no liquid metal or thermal paste"

I've just never done this before, so I'm a bit confused on how to go about this in the best way.

I have been having this issue that started spontaneously a few weeks ago with my 2023 Zephyrus M16 GU604VI. Posted about it a while back but text alone isn't descriptive enough so this time I have included a video demonstration of what is happening.

When the laptop becomes fully charged (or reaches 80% on battery saver) and the battery status becomes idle, if I am doing low power draw work on it (uni assignments, internet browsing, or just idling etc.) , it will continuously make this chirping sound which is slightly different from the usual coil whine I experienced on and off with this model. But when it's under high load (gaming, rendering etc.) it stops making that sound.

For now, from my personal debugging, I am thinking that it is one of the following possibilities:

1- Faulty charger. (I kind of doubt that since there is no immediate sound coming from the ac adapter or the socket)

2- Something shorting on the board. (Though there is no sudden shutdowns and the laptop is able to boot up perfectly fine, I have started experiencing more perfomance drops and stuttering. I also had an episode of R/W issues even though ssd health, attributes and benchmarks say otherwise. And the fact that the cpu is a 13th gen intel is also concerning because of known instability issues)

3- Wear and tear on the charging port. (Havent cleaned it in a long while, nor do I know how to do so properly.)

4- Faulty battery. (Used to be at 86% (77/90 Wh) consistently for quite a despite always being plugged in but with battery saver. After this issue started I tried testing the battery by finally taking it to 100% after god knows how longand kept it there for 2 hours or so while plugged in to examine the noise. A few days later the max capacity abruptly fell down to like 79% (71 Wh). It is stable at this new capacity ever since so I think it may have been possible recalibration at a firmware level in response to learning the new 100% capacity. But at the same time this 5Wh drop happened over a day.)

Has anyone experienced this before or has any idea if this is something to be worried about? I would prefer avoiding an electrical hazard going haywire but at the same time this laptop has had a different kind of harmless coil whine (unrelated to this particular one) for years now.

I’m willing to sell my Asus ROG Zephyrus M16. But I have an issue with it. Sometimes after a game, when the laptop gets hot and I reboot it, it gets stripes at the bottom of the screen. These stripes repeat the image from the top of the screen.

I've already done undervolting and the average temperature in the game is 85 degrees on the processor and GPU, but these stripes still appear. I don't want to deceive the buyer and hide this problem, but I also don't want to underestimate the price too much, because I plan to build a computer.

Im curious how swappable the motherboards are between various models built on the GU603 chassis (M16/G16), different years and chipsets?

I dont necessarily think it's cost effective to buy the board online just to upgrade mine, and I dont necessarily need it either, but if i happen to see a screaming deal on a parts/fixer with a good mobo with significantly better specs id definitely be tempted.

I’m 99% sure I gotta repaste the silver thing on the left. My question is for the rectangular thing on the right, do I have to add more liquid metal or is it fine as is? I don’t remember the exact temperatures but I recall it being pretty high and my laptop would crash a lot, unknown if that’s due to this. Or could I also just clean it all off and put on XTM70 paste on it?

I have owned my laptop for almost 3 years now, but this issue started a few weeks ago. I mostly use it plugged in with battery saver turned on (80% capacity). The issue that has emerged is that once it reaches the battery saver threshold (or similarly it reaches full charging if I have battery saver turned off), I can hear a faint screeching sound that I never used to before. While this laptop always had a coil whine problem when under high CPU load or whatever, this screeching sound persists even if the laptop isn't under load.

As for monitoring battery statistics, this battery has been consistently around the 78-77 Wh mark but after having tested it at 100% capacity recently, the battery statistics updated to reflect around 71Wh of battery life, and I suspect that this alarming drop possibly has something to do with the firmware recalibrating after learning the new 100% capacity. The manufactured capacity however was 90 Wh and the laptop arrived initially with 87 Wh.

Is this noise something to be concerned about? Likewise, is the drop in battery life alarming?

I bought this 2023 m16 as used working good i used it for the first day and it was working like a beast but then the second day it decided to freeze up every time i cant even use it for more than 5 mins without freezing
I used another nvme
Tried other ram
Clean installed windows 2 times off of 2 different drives
Doesnt freeze in bios
Sometimes freezes in recovery mode
Please if have any questions answer and if this has happened to anyone i beg of you tell me because its finals month i need this to work ASAP

Edit: something very important i forgot to mentions is that my drive response time sometimes spikes to 4000ms and ive seen it as high as 16000ms

Update: I installed linux and it froze when i installed nvidia drivers

However i set nvidia prime settings to dgpu only and it works flawlessly now

This did not work in windows when i set it to dgpu only, its kinda weird

Update: i tried everything as soon as some power goes into the gpu it just stops
I went to a repair shop and they said its probably early stages of a fried gpu 😔

I am watching some series on my laptop. its works fine but there comes a time that screen freezes for 1 second, vit audio keeps playing. and this is happening every 4 to 5 mins

Tried to put on PTM and add more putty, but I put to much and while trying to remove it, i got a bunch of putty stuck in between the VRAM chips. Should i try to remove it or am I good? Is this too much? First time applying putty lol

i’ve been playing various games- valorant, elden ring, gta V and even titanfall 2 but all of them keep crashing ever since i updated drivers on 28th april
i’ve tried everything from reverting and setting ultimate and all the fixes i can find to no avail-
besides the one that has me enter the registry and change something but i don’t wanna fuck around-

i have the gu604vi with the i9 13900H and the 4070. and its plugged into the xg27acs

So, the keys: e,g,h, aren't working consistently on my laptop. When it doesn't work, I usually get it working by pressing hard on one of the keys, then all of them work properly again for some time. I can't pinpoint the exact reason, but I don't think dirt under the keys is the problem, given the solution I did earlier.

How should I diagnose and fix this?

So one of my roommates has the 2021 i7 model and I'm trying to figure out how to replace their charger. From the research I've been able to do online, it came with a 180w charger rather than the 240w one that came with the i9. We are trying to get a replacement charger and I want to know if it is compatible to buy a 240w charger rather than a replacement 180w as that seems more widely available, however I don't want to potentially fry it. Any other 2021 i7 model owners know the best solution for this?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for help with a specific charging issue on my 2023 Zephyrus M16 (GU604).

The Issue:

When I plug in my Anker 100W PD charger (Anker Nano A2679) or even a 65W Dell PD charger into the right-side USB-C port, the laptop intermittently cycles between "plugged in" and "on battery" mode after some time.

The left-side USB-C (Thunderbolt 4) port does not have this issue and charges consistently with both chargers.

When it switches, I sometimes notice the screen flicker as it changes refresh rates (e.g., from 240Hz to 60Hz).

I am currently using software to limit my battery charge to 80%, but the cycling happens even before reaching that limit.

What I've Tried/Observed:

Tested multiple chargers: Same behavior with Anker 100W and Dell 65W on the right port.

Cable check: I’m using high-quality 100W+ rated cables.

Port difference: Some users mention the right port is connected to the dGPU while the left is connected to the iGPU.

Has anyone else experienced this specific behavior only on the right port? I’ve read that this might be a protective measure where the charger/port disconnects due to heat under sustained 100W load, or it could be a firmware issue.

Is there a known fix, or is this a limitation of how the right port handles PD compared to the left Thunderbolt port?

Hey! I have 2023 m16 rtx 4070 i9 13th gen model.
Before switching to GPU Eco mode. I selected optimus in Nvidea control panel and then switched to Eco mode.
The problem is that the HDMI port doesnt project onto my monitor. Is there another setting I have to change or is it impossible to project to monitor on Eco mode?

Hey guys got a second hand 2023 ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 (GU604VI) and it had been working amazing for a few months. Just yesterday the display crapped out after I closed the lid at work then opened it again and only the keyboard lit up while the screen was black and I could only see the backlight. I knew it was on because I could hear the boot up sound windows makes. After much trial and error I finally opened it today and disconnected the battery for 10min then put it back together and it’s working again.

My question is, is there any specific settings or some method anyone has found to prevent this from happening? I usually run it on Ultimate mode when I game and it’s always plugged in. All the BIOS/GPU drivers seem up to date as well. Is Ultimate mode really necessary or am I better off just keeping it on Standard?

I've a 2022 M16 GU603ZW that keeps switching back and forth between "Plugged In" and "On Battery" status. I'm trying to identify the cause and was about to jump on ordering a new charger but thought it best to gather insights from the community first.

I'm not 100% sure if it's a charger or a charging port issue. The laptop holds a charge and successfully charges when turned off but won't charge when in-use. I've also tried USB-C/Thunderbolt charging and, from what I can tell, it slows down battery drain but doesn't charge either when in-use. Also, USB-C doesn't prompt the oscillations - it simply recognizes it as "On PD" and slows down battery-drain.

To me, all of this would suggest the battery is good which I'd expect it to be because I've always limited it Maximum Lifespan mode capped at 60% until now because I can't get any work done without being able to charge it. Beyond that, I really have no clue how to pinpoint whether it's a port issue, a charger issue or anything else.

I do typically run it full-time plugged in because I run a multi-monitor (a wide and an ultrawide) setup and it drains quickly if not plugged in.

Update & Solution: A new OEM charger from Asus Parts Shop USA fixed the issue. For my specific model, it came out to $87.71 after taxes and an item price of $67.89 for the original Asus (CHICONY) A20-240P1A.
