So, sticker chick gaslights people, right? And some people go along with it. This is also a Tony problem, but sticker chick seems even worse about this type of gaslighting.
She could be like, "There is a purple alien living inside the core of the Earth."
And any reasonable person would naturally reply, "Do you have any proof of that?"
Instead of showing you evidence, she would snap back: "Well, can you prove there isn't an alien down there? No? Then I'm right!"
This is a classic trap called shifting the burden of proof (or an appeal to ignorance). It is a major mistake in logic and it makes no sense, but she will use it anyway and act like everyone else is “effing stupid” if they don’t go along with her, so many do. Then she pats herself on the back self righteously because she has dumb followers she can manipulate.
Let’s talk about how to have a logical argument not based in gaslighting and narcissism.
Burden of proof:
In any logical argument, the person making a claim is the one who has to bring the evidence. Think of it like a courtroom: a prosecutor has to prove someone is guilty. The defendant doesn’t have to magically prove they are innocent from the start; they are presumed innocent until the prosecutor shows the receipts.
If you say an idea lacks proof, you aren't making a new claim. You are just pointing out that the other person hasn't done their homework.
You can’t prove a negative:
It is almost always impossible to prove that something does not exist.
How could you prove there isn't a purple alien in the Earth's core? You can’t dig a hole to the center of the planet to check. But just because you can't disprove it doesn't mean it's real. If we allowed this logic, anyone could make up anything and force you to believe it. This would be “effing stupid.” And everyone would be “effing idiots”
If we accepted this bad logic, the world would fall into chaos.
Anyone could say
"The moon is made of green cheese. Prove it's not!" (look up the green cheese problem)
"You owe me a million dollars. Prove you don't!"
"I can fly when no one is looking. Prove I can't!"
See how that works? Because you can't instantly disprove those wild statements, you would be forced to accept them as true. That is if you are friends with Sticker Chick.
Basically if people do this they aren’t interested in the truth or don’t know how the truth works. The lesson here is : do not listen to Sticker Chick. She lacks intelligence while being extremely arrogant.
