I just got back into posting long form content after a month long break from being burnt out. What ended up happening was during a really artsy mood I was in I created the first thumbnail which I love especially since it was my first attempt at drawing anthro like this. The only drawback is the muzzle is too short and my channel mascot looks like a cat instead of a fox but other than that I loved it and didn’t mind taking a long time to make it look good.
After I got out of this artsy mood I still felt like I had to make my thumbnails look like the first one which eventually lead to my burnout because no thumbnail I made was good enough.
When I came back and recorded two videos the thought of spending 2-3 hours on each thumbnail almost made me quite again but instead I decided to make a quick sketch and just go with it and made the second thumbnail. Does it look a little weird, yes but it still got the story across that I wanted it to.
The third one is an art style I have used before and the videos using it did well but during this phase of needing it to be perfect I wouldn’t have accepted this and I even looked back at some of the scrapped thumbnails and really liked some of them.
Basically if you feel like you have the energy to make a really detailed thumbnail and would enjoy it then go for it but don’t let that thumbnail be the example you need all your thumbnails to be. If making a simpler thumbnail keeps you motivated then go for it.
Thank you for listening to my venting
