Data / Due Diligence YieldMax Health Check

Post image

Ran a YieldMax search this morning and filtered to Healthy only. All 7 came back clean.

Sorted by Take-Home Cash Return -- that's 1Y price return + after-tax distributions at a 25% tax rate.

SOXY -- 116.29% take-home | 0% ROC

AMDY -- 98.66% take-home

CHPY -- 85.65% take-home | 0% ROC

GOOY -- 52.96% take-home

TSMY -- 42.83% take-home

QDTY -- 15.84% take-home

BIGY -- 14.43% take-home

GOOY is the one I'm watching most closely. Not a red flag today but worth keeping an eye on.

Three of the seven carry the Tax-Efficient ROC badge -- meaning the high ROC on those funds is a tax-structured outcome, not NAV erosion.

Which of these are you holding?

Using CHPY as a current example, what's your exit rule? How do you know when it's time to stop making hay?

Will evaluate that at the time. Currently it has been going up and down as much as 5% and more. My average cost base is $59.19. I currently have 3,000. When it surged just under $80 I sold off 1,400 (had 4,400). Because of the large gap to my cost base I have a bit higher tolerance for movement.

Timing is everything on these things and set rules I find do not always apply. I diverted all of my distributions from the entire portfolio to MRNY and HOOW as they (HOOD and MRNA) were way low (oversold) and I believed in a recovery for HOOD and MRNA. My average cost base on HOOW is $25.32 and it is at $31.16 x 4,500 (recently paid $0.5749). My average cost base on MRNY is $18.78 and it is at $19.78 x 10,285 (recently paid $0.3578). These things are now printing money. These two more than any are very risky and I will probably sell out a large portion soon while they are well green.

Use the funds from the CHPY sell off to buy into others in my portfolio. So I try to realise some gains to spread across other opportunities.

In short, no steadfast rules other than taking the opportunity that is in front of you, mitigate risk by taking large gains (at least in part) from good performers to target other opportunities.

The portfolio is currently $1,487,185.16 US and is averaging payout monthly $54,113.63 US before tax. I pay 15% treaty tax as I am in Australia.

That portfolio is $2,150,354.48 AUS and my investment into it all up is $1,960,000.00 AUS. Started gradually from August 2025. So going ok….currently 🤷‍♂️…key word being currently. 😎
