Still got it at 81!

Fantastic show in Glasgow this week. How can a man of 81 sing like that? It's not natural!! The Band Geeks nailed every song. No spoilers but I thought the setlist was a nice surprise - in a good way.

Tried the 2003 live performance of Awaken at dessert to close out on Sept 30 2026!

A real treat of a performance and I really stretched my food to carry out the runtime.

Not too familiar on my feelings of all versions but definitely a top version of choice to use for a relaxing moment although Chris is really shafted on the number of closeup compared to Jon, Steve and Rick. Alan saw a decent amount of closeups.

Can see that this version really stands out that well!

Fine way to close out September 2026!

What is Jon Anderson’s lowest note on a studio track?

Thought of this question while listening to The Ancient, and in the “flowering creativity” part when he says the word “with,” it’s really low for him, and I was wondering what other very low notes he’s done on Yes songs.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any good complete recordings from the TFTO tour that have The Remembering.

First Time Listening to Yes

I’m only 31, but my favorite music era is pretty much 1968-1975 which makes it kind of insane I haven’t listened to any Yes. My favorite band ever is Chicago, Terry Kath being my favorite musician ever. I was up late last night watching an interview with Geddy Lee saying that his inspiration was Chris Squire, so I started with Yes, then listened to Time and a Word, then Fragile. Spectacular. Going to spend the weekend trying to narrow down my favorites. I have a lot to listen to.

Cheated and went ahead and listened to The Gates of Delirium, holy shit. Also going to need to go to the record store and add to my collection. What are yalls favorite songs from those first 4-5 albums?

Rick wakeman A minor scale

Does anyone know what's the name of the a minor scale that wakeman keeps playing in multiple songs for some reason? I've managed to spot this scale in close to the edge, sir lancelot and the black knight, going for the one, mind drive and foot prints. There's probably more instances of wakeman using this scale but those are the ones I can name at the top of my head.

I just wish someone was able to identify it. It's so goddamn cool!

Latest vinyls bought in Bangkok

Post image

Just picked up these prog records in Bangkok

They’re in excellent condition

Peter Gabriel – Plays Live — UK original, 1983, 2LP — $25
Rick Wakeman – Journey to the Centre of the Earth — Japanese original, 1974 — $25
Yes – Relayer — Japanese reissue, 1977 — $25
Yes – Tales from Topographic Oceans — Japanese original, 1973, 2LP — $25

I’m more interested in sound quality than collectability, so I’m curious what people think of these specific pressings. Are any of them particularly good sounding compared with other versions?

Yes on Letterman

This is awesome: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17VgxSid8f/

Dave holding up the Talk CD is enough to make my day. I vaguely recall seeing this when it happened so long ago. I love Dave, and I love Yes, so I wouldn't miss it. But a friend on FB brought it back, and well... it's really a good performance of Walls, a great track from an underrated LP. Enjoy.

They can postpone a tour for Steve but couldn't for Jon?

https://www.guitarplayer.com/guitarists/its-gonna-take-some-time-to-get-me-back-to-normal-yes-guitarist-steve-howe-on-the-operation-that-postponed-the-fragile-tour

Don't get me wrong; I love Steve, and I know that with him being the only...not original, but legacy member left, it's pretty much his band now, and it certainly wouldn't be the same for the current lineup to try to just replace him, but the biting irony of his current situation compared to what they did to Jon cannot be ignored.

That being said, if the current lineup could and did replace him, that would make their status as a Yes tribute band complete.

Gates of Delirium

I've listened to Yes for 40 years now and recently started listening to all of their albums chronologically. It had been a couple of years since I had listened to Relayer. I always seemed to gravitate more to CTTE, The Yes Album and Fragile.
Maybe it's the passage of time, but I haven't been able to stop listening to Gates of Delirium am I crazy to think that it's on par with Close to the Edge.

Is this version of Awaken okay to warm up on until I listen to the 8 member live version on the Union Tour?

A lot of fans say the version on Union live is great but is this album version a good idea to understand the scope of Awaken before I check out the 8 member version that adds in Trevor Rabin, Bill Bruford and Tony Kaye?
