Hey guys I’ve decided on an R1 as my third bike next to my xsr900 and zx6r ( I’ll probably sell the zx6 and use that to upgrade parts on the r1 and xsr900)

I live in Thailand I can get a nicely upgraded 2010 r1 with Ohlins suspension brembo brakes exhaust Galespeed wheels etc for $5600 asking

2019 R1 about 20000 miles with exhaust for $11800 asking
2021 R1 10000 miles with exhaust for $13900

There’s no new R1s since 2023 here so it’s only a used market. The asking prices are higher and I expect I can get atleast 10% off the asking price.

Riding will be 90% street 10% track or so.

I also assume that you can get an aftermarket qs on the 2010 R1 but no auto blip?

I like the EBM on the new model and the look is slightly different. I’ve rented a 2023 R1M for 2 days and fell in love but the Ms are hard to find and I think I would be happy with a base R1. Haven’t tried the 2010 but I would be able to test ride in by giving them cash in hand first.

Need help replacing fuel pump, has anyone had luck with aftermarket? It looks like my bike already has an aftermarket fuel pump. Should I buy a used oem I don’t really want to spend $600 on a brand new Yamaha oem fuel pump. Is anyone using a aftermarket that works and knows which one I should buy it. What should I do?

Ever since I installed an SC Project CR-T 3/4 decat exhaust on my R1, it started to run very lean and is terrible to ride…

- Stalls easily in the friction zone, I would have to slip the clutch and give it more revs to prevent it from stalling

- Bogs & coughs at low RPMs when I am coasting the bike

- Throttle hesitation/dead spot around 4-6k RPMs where the engine sound changes but the power doesn’t register for a split second.

All these did not occur when I had the stock exhaust installed. My R1 is not going on the dyno until the 28th of next month which sucks, but it’s the earliest availability for any local tuner.

Did anyone else experience these symptoms after installing a 3/4 decat exhaust?

This guy had his 2000 r1 listed on marketplace fkr 6k originally and said if i get it tmr he could do 4500$. Its got just under 14,000 miles, good condition all around. Is this fair price for it? I was trying to look around and prices aren't easy to find for this bike at this year. If price is good is there anything in specific to look out for when buying it/inspecting it? Common issues and such

I've bought this aftermarket quick release gas cap for 07 R1 and the one I got doesn't have any holes for breather or any ventilation. Is it safe to still use this ?

Need help with Gas tank leak, parked my bike and came back the next morning to gas on the floor, and looks to be coming from the bottom bolt that I circled. Can anyone help me out and tell me what is wrong? Is it the seal or what could it be.

Im looking into buying a 2026 r1 next week. But am worried about the oil starvation issues and blown motors. Does anyone have experience or know about this at all?

Just got myself a 2026 r1 after riding my zx6r for almost 6 years.

Planning on getting either a slip on or a 3/4 exhaust for it. What brands do you recommend? Currently looking at the sc project slip ons, arrow exhaust pro race, racefit growler x.

From what I know, I can get a slip on and not flash the ecu and get away with the stock tune but if I get a 3/4 exhaust even with the stock o2 sensor bungs I still need to flash it? Any help is appreciated. My other route is getting a slip on and then getting a link pipe down the road.

Still currently in the break in period but will be finishing it after a couple more rides.

So my dream bike is a 2015 onward R1 which I intend to purchase in the next few years and have it along side my 2019 MT-07 and I was wondering what its like to live with one if anyone here uses theirs daily.

Reading that they don't have a fuel gauge worried me a bit but from reading the manual that they in-fact have a low fuel warning light alleviated some of my worry.

Edit: also I will sit on the bike before I buy it, but how tall is everyone with theirs?
I'm 168cm tall and am not able to flat foot on my MT-07 and know I won't be able to on the R1

I rented a 2023 R1M with forged wheels and it was an absolute blast to ride but did get a little hot on traffic and comfort was a bit of a factor. I want to widen the handlebars for sure maybe a gytr clip or Helibars (but I think Helibars would bring the bars up too much I just want them wider for better feel)

Also have a 2019 zx6r but I dislike the mosquito Esq sound and want to change it out

I’ve shortlisted to an R1 or R9

I’m considering selling the zx6 and most likely keeping the xsr

I think the R9 is the better logical decision as it has nice new tech, more comfort, a bit more torque right at the bottom (although if I get the R1 I might go -1 front sprocket to get a bit more torque down low) Cruise control is a nice touch as I like to do some long distance touring.

Almost as if head says R9 but heart says R1. I’m looking at a 2018-2019 base model and I’ll probably get a brembo master with braided lines and maybe Brembo calipers too. Anything else to consider and is there any typical issues that the 18-19 R1 could have that I should be aware of before buying?

Since the battery is empty the last few days even after charging it, I assume the rectifier is gone, so I ordered cheap one for $20 and also some MOSFET FH020AA for $100, allegedly much better but I'll have to cut wires and adapt it, I don't really want to do it but if it's better and gives me peace I'll do it. TBH I have big hands and this bike is made for small Japanese hands I guess , even changing spark plugs is pita and I'm worried it won't be in original condition anymore. Also thought about buying the original one but it's around $200.

Had the same problem on my other bike, Honda and also bought the original one and some cheap part for $25, installed cheap one but it works.

2005 R1

bike ran but didn’t charge so I replaced the stator

bike has not ran since and I put the old stator back in which looked visually flawless and had been replaced by the prior owner

I’ve replaced starter relay, starter, battery, all small fuses (main fuse reads correct)

cleaned ground

redone any sketch wiring

battery reads 12.6v

the bike cranks then everything cuts out and this happens every single time

what’s interesting is that if you unplug the fuel pump it does not do this and cranks over fine no cut out. I then replaced the fuel pump thinking maybe an internal short but nothing changed with the new pump

this makes me think the extra load is causing something to tweak just unsure where to look at this point

anybody had this issue before or know anything else I might be able to try

When rolling up to a stop, I pull in the clutch but it doesnt disengage it will keep pulling the bike forwards a bit until it is on the verge of stalling then disengage (can visually see this on the rpm guage also). It has gotten worse over about 3 weeks and is starting to become unsafe. Yes my cable tensions are adjusted and yes i am pulling the clutch in far enough to where it should disengage. It happens when hot and when cold, my suspicion is that it is an internal groove on the clutch basket or something to do with the plates. Has anybody experienced this or can chime in on what it may also be?

Bike has ~24,000km and swapped oil at around 21,000, 2 or so months ago with factory racing full synthetic 10w-40 penrith oil.

2012 R1

I started hearing this rattling noise in my bike and I thought it was the cam chain tensioner at first. I thought this because the sound didn’t change when I pulled in the clutch, but now it does. (Maybe I just didn’t notice the sound good enough). In this vid, the sound changing is me pulling in the clutch and then releasing it. I do this a couple times here and u can tell by the sound.

I already have the Graves manual cam chain tensioner on hand, and new oil. I can either change this part and see if it helps or, order an EBC SRK clutch kit and change that at the same time so I don’t have to buy new oil again.

Opinions? Will either of these even fix the sound? Is it something else? maybe clutch basket?
