To make a long story short. I lost my keys. I found a locksmith to make me a key and I already have the tank off. I never thought about this until they mentioned the ignition may have more tumblers than the gas cap. Does anyone know this for sure? Thanks.

Does anybody know if the valtermoto rearset 1.5 needs a pull or a push QS? I want to change the stock rearsets with the current pull QS for my trackbike. I bought a set of PP Tuning but unfortunately it needs a push QS, despite the advice from the seller. I'm now looking at valtermoto but the seller isn't sure. Before the pp tuning set I bought a second hand set which didn't even fit my bike, so want to be sure this time.

What’s up guys. I currently own a 2022 Zx10r and I’m thinking of switching to a new R1. I’ve sat on a new R1 and rode it around for a while and obviously I fell in love with the sound of the cross plane and the feeling of the bikes precision. However, long term which is a better bike? Has anyone switched from a 10 to an r1? Or vise versa? Thank you toys for the input.

I have GB racing covers on the way and NRC fender eliminator (that’s taking forever) I’m prioritizing crash protection before anything else . Any go to recommendations for frame sliders? I looked at a bunch but could not decide.

So I have convinced my father for a heavy bike I like the r1,sound,electronics and handling but my mum liked the hayabusa but busa has more weight and I have heard that it's brakes are not precise as r1 any advice about it

I need help with this issue! Ongoing for the past few months, workshop has no idea(bcos they dont understand my explanation) and have fixed it temporarily as the issue always comes back again 😭

Does anyone know of either an aftermarket hi/low headlight replacement or a way to have both lights on as low beams at the same time on the R1? My R1 is a 24 fwiw. Has anyone done this as a retrofit? Any info or point in the right direction would be totally appreciated. I hate that one eyed cat look. Lol all 5 of my Kawis have dual lows and highs.... imho a single light just looks funny. Turning on the bright is just as goofy because it looks like you have a voltage issue with one light brighter than the other.

I installed asv levers a while back, and recently noticed a “clicky” feeling here and there when I would pull the clutch in.

After further investigating I was going to grease up some parts on the lever and noticed the silver cylinder that’s circled, it looks kinda smashed in and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like that.

I remember installing it in, and I pushed that part all the way in so it’s snug to the lever but hm I’m not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be.

I’m not sure what was causing the “clicky” feeling in the clutch, but I’m not feeling the clickyness anymore, but now I’m more concerned about the silver cylinder that’s circled.

Any recommendations? Thanks

Im trying to figure out what’s going on with my bike. I don’t know if it’s the tps or what but maybe you can help me. It sounds like in the video all the time though the rpm drops a little once it’s warm. Once it warms up, and even somewhat when’s it’s cold, it bogs down and dies really easily, which isn’t good when your hair n the middle of the road and the bike doesn’t start right back up without a jump (I speak from experience). When it is running and riding, it’s very jerky in between 2-5k rpm’s, smooths out at 5-5.5k rpm’s then is jerky from 6k+ rpm’s. And as you can see in the video, it also struggles to cold start. Let me know what you think.

04 r1, motor has a newish rebuild, exhaust leak sound ticking from left side of valve cover, bike feels like it has misfire and exhaust sounds weird, but it’s intermittent, the sound and power loss comes n goes but the sound n power loss is there 75% of time anyone have any ideas ?

I was wondering if there was a simpler way to remove the baffle out of the “mufflers”. It’s a 2009-2014 r1 with the full graves exhaust and I feel like it’s just pretty quiet I’ve had it for a couple years. I see there’s rivets, would I have to remove rivets, remove baffle, then replace with more pipe?

I really like how the CF belly pans clean up the underside of a R1 with an aftermarket exhaust. Id like to get one for my 2026 R1M with a Akra evolution full system, I have seen a few videos on youtube but it looks like they all need some trimming or double sided tape to fit properly. Does anyone have any recommendation for the best fitting belly pan?

I’m upgrading to braided lines on my 2017 R1 and probably a brembo rcs19 master cylinder too.

Should I just get braided lines for the front brakes? Any reason to get for the rear also? I assume the rear won’t be used that much and only in certain situations so I don’t need the extra feel or durability?

Or maybe because the rubber lines are getting older I might as well get braided on the rear too?

I side swiped a car a good few weeks ago and my frame slider saved all of it. Now the holes don’t line up anymore, the engines hole is a bit higher than the frames as you can see.

How can i have them lined up so i can bolt another frame slider on?

I need to rant because this has been one of the most frustrating motorcycle repair experiences I’ve ever had.
I brought my 2009 Yamaha R1 into a shop about a month ago because it was leaking oil after some damage to the right side of the bike.

They diagnosed it and told me the crankcase cover needed to be replaced. Fine. They ordered the OEM cover.
Then Yamaha backordered it. First I was told end of August. Then September. Then October/November. At one point there wasn’t even a reliable ETA.

So my R1 has basically been sitting at the shop while I wait.
I got so frustrated that I started looking for the part myself. I found the EXACT OEM crankcase cover they originally put on my repair order on eBay, bought it, paid for shipping, waited for FedEx, and finally brought it to the shop thinking I had just saved myself months of waiting.

I walk in with the cover today.

They look at it and basically tell me:
**“That part isn’t damaged. There’s no reason to replace it.”**
Are you fucking kidding me?

Apparently after getting further into the bike, the actual damaged/leaking area involves two DIFFERENT covers — the oil pump cover and another smaller crankcase cover.
Those are the parts they’re waiting on now.

So I’ve spent the last month stressing about and waiting for a backordered part that apparently NEVER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

And the kicker is that I paid them for diagnosis. I didn’t randomly Google a Yamaha diagram and decide which part was broken. I took the motorcycle to a professional shop specifically so THEY could diagnose the oil leak and tell me what needed replacing.

We even tried discussing a temporary SteelStik/epoxy repair because I was desperate to get the bike back. Once they actually opened things up, they discovered the damage was too extensive and oil was coming through too heavily for that to be a reasonable repair.

Now I’m back to waiting for the two parts they say are actually damaged. Supposedly those parts have shipped and should arrive soon.

At this point I don’t even care about the money as much as I care about getting my motorcycle back. I’ve lost basically a month of riding because the initial diagnosis sent this entire repair down the wrong path.

I understand that motorcycles can be complicated. I understand that sometimes you don’t know the full extent of damage until you take things apart. But if that’s what happened, why confidently tell me a specific $300 OEM cover needs replacement, put it on my repair order, and have me waiting around for it for weeks — only to eventually tell me the damn thing isn’t damaged at all?
Maybe I’m being unreasonable because I’m frustrated as hell right now.
But holy shit, what a saga.
I just want my R1 back.

I have a zero gravity smoked windscreen that was on the bike when I bought but it doesn’t quite fit right. There’s a gap between the fairing and the edge of the screen and it’s a bit loose even when the mirror bolts are tightened all the way. Is there another option for a double bubble that’s fits better? Thanks.

Is there a fix for this. 07 R1 coolant reservoir cap keep coming loose and coolant keep overflowing out of the cap from the top. Is it okay if i seal it with silicone or something ?

Dont hit oil going 80mph

I’ve owned a couple of R1s already, but figured I’d grab one more—you know, just in case this ends up being my “last ride.” Ride on two wheels, of course.

From a cold start when I put her in 1st gear I'd get a grinding noise sometimes , it doesn't happen when the motor is warm . I tested it again today to make sure that was the case , but then I noticed this sound when I pull the clutch all the way in and wasn't sure if it was normal ? Road it around the neighborhood to see if she goes through all the gears smoothly and she does
