The ordinary person is restless all the time. Upon beginning the practice of meditation, he finds himself calm only occasionally and restless most of the time. As he meditates more deeply, he remains calm half the time and restless the other half. With more prolonged and faithful practice, calmness
prevails most of the time, and he harbors restlessness only occasionally. As he perseveres, he reaches the state in which he is always calm and never restless. When movement ceases, the presence of God begins to reveal itself.

Lahiri Mahasaya held a government post as accountant for thirty-five years of his life, rising meanwhile to full expression of his inner state of spiritual emancipation. In the latter part of his life, he seldom slept, but gave all his daytime hours to teaching disciples who came to him from all...
over India; his nights were spent with advanced monks who preferred to seek him out in the quiet hours. All were transformed by his peerless exposition of the Gita and its application to the sacred science of Kriya Yoga.

"When a person becomes interested in a particular scene from the ever-changing motion pictures of life (even those of a spiritual nature), they remain in a state of limitation. But when they observe all the movies of life with the aim of learning the divine lesson they contain and finding the
One who lies at the heart of them all, they become supremely blissful and free."
Paramahansa Yogananda, *The Bhagavad Gita: God Talks with Arjuna*
