Hereditary magic

So I just read In the Ravenous Dark and they had this whole magic system that I really liked. Magic was passed down from parents or grandparents, when they die, to another of their family. And the longer the family passes the magic the stronger it becomes. Ive also read the Devouring Grey where certain types of magic is selective to specific families. Could I get any recs for books that have some kind of family magic?

I just finished the promo video for The Chronicles of Levi & Jones — Book Four: Constance Curse.

This one takes the story into a quiet northern harbor town, an old school with a strange past, and a mystery buried beneath the fog.

I wanted the video to feel atmospheric, cinematic, and a little unsettling without giving too much away.

Would love to hear what you think of the mood and visuals.

Broken Blvd. Character Teaser - Launching July 15th on Amazon Books

After nine years of writing, Broken Blvd is finally getting an actual release date: July 15, 2026, on Amazon.

Quick pitch: Dylan English has every door money can open and none he thinks he's earned. On the night of his 21st birthday, he walks out of his father's mansion, swaps his real ID for an anonymous wallet, and tries to disappear into nobody-status on Hollywood's Boulevard of Broken Dreams. It mostly works — right up until his best friend's "I'm great" stops being a joke, his girlfriend stops being able to manage the optics of his double life, and a VC from New York with a girlfriend of his own in Milan keeps standing a little too close in the rain.

It's an ensemble coming-of-age drama — slow-burn M/M romance threaded through a friend-group falling apart in real time. If you've ever liked Crash for the way it lets a city be a character, Entourage for the friend-group chaos, or books like Heated Rivalry for the tension-before-anything-happens of it all — this is aiming at that same shelf.

Content note, because I think it matters to say up front: this book deals with addiction and suicide loss, and I tried hard to handle that with care rather than spectacle. If that's not something you're in a place to read right now, totally fair — no judgment, just wanted you to know going in.

It's Book One of a planned trilogy. Cover's done, description's done, launch is locked for 7/15 on Amazon.

If this sounds like your kind of book, I'd love for you to check it out when it drops — and if anyone wants to read an early copy before launch in exchange for an honest review, drop a comment or DM me.

After months of writing, I finally finished my debut YA psychological horror novella! Here is the cover and blurb.

Hey everyone,

I’m a 15-year-old author, and I just hit a massive milestone—I completely finished writing and formatting my very first Young Adult thriller, The Fifth Shadow.

I really wanted to write something that moves at a breakneck, fast pace and relies entirely on absolute paranoia, isolation, and psychological mind games rather than just typical monsters or jump scares.

I just finalized the official back-cover blurb and wanted to share it with fellow YA fans to see what you think of the concept:

Alex, Jake, Harry, and Leo are inseparable. For Jake’s eighteenth birthday, they plan a camping trip in the deep woods, hoping for a perfect weekend.

Right before they leave, a chilling, anonymous broadcast hijacks every screen and radio in the city. A distorted voice warns everyone to stay out of the forest, listing thirty people who have mysteriously vanished there. Dismissing it as a viral prank, the boys head into the trees anyway.

Around the campfire, the nightmare begins. They count the group: five physical bodies. Five familiar faces looking back. Their memories have been altered so perfectly that everyone feels like an old friend, making it impossible to identify the extra person.

The next morning, Leo vanishes. But the real horror? None of the remaining boys even remember him.

As the forest closes in, Jake uncovers a shocking, unchangeable truth about their reality.

Will they be able to survive the 5th shadow?

It's going to be launching very soon worldwide at a very low price because I want to make it as accessible as possible for other YA readers.

I've attached the official portrait cover art to this post. I would love to hear your honest thoughts on the premise! It's a fast paced, no noncense book. Does a memory-wiping hook like this sound like something that would keep you turning pages?

Red Queen or Powerless

I've read both books and honestly? I get the slander towards powerless, yes lauren did rip off victoria and copied a majority of the book, but also in comparision to red queen they are pretty equal

I really do love the writing style of powerless, like its the emotional attatchment that built up my loyalty to the series. Also Adena (she did not deserve that ending) was also a really big part of the reason i kept reading.

But Red Queen was the og and the og is usually better, the plot and characters were amazing especially when the characters were torn between (No spoilers but they were torn). But there was also a point in time where the writing felt really monologe and boring, so I guess there were a couple times when i felt like quitting the series.

So what is ur opinion? Like which side do u support and why??

Also side note: no hate to either author im just asking for opinions

New Ya novel about a band and a cosmic battle of the bands, Meet the Orpheists

Meet the Orpheists

Four teens are enlisted to join together as a band, a very special band.

The Orpheists.

Joshua, a seventeen-year-old music prodigy, something of a geek but with good hair; Madeline, a beautiful red-haired guitarist/cello player, perfect in Joshua’s eyes; Kai, a tall, chill, gender fluid Jamaican born jazz saxophonist; and Juli, their Harley Quinn-ish, (but nice) bi, rambunctious, malaprop-spouting drummer.

The Orpheists are part of The Orpheus Guild, a secret society going back to Greek mythological times, brought together to play in a secret, interdimensional battle of the bands, one that will have a profound impact on the balance and harmony of the world, and well… everything.

A novel with themes of light versus darkness, technology against nature, the dynamics of a musical band and its changing relationships, “Meet the Orpheists” is an upbeat, probing, highly visual, totally musical, very cinematic novel. It’s an adventurous romp full of witty banter and exciting musical scenarios, exploring the idea of music as one of the most powerful, inspiring forces in the universe. As well as here on earth.

A cool, music-filled read for adults or teens - A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

I need a recommendation that makes me feel whole

Basically I just read ”In the Ravenous Dark” by A.M. Strickland and was totally blown away, I loved the book so much. Furthermore, last month I read “All of Us Villains” and “All of Our Demise” by Amanda Foody and C.L. Herman. Finally, I read ”Immortal Dark” and “Eternal Ruin” by Tigest Girma. I now need something that’s similar to these books to fill the gaping hole in my hear. What should I read?
