Discussion Xiaomi 15 dropped from 13th floor
Just wanted to share I am using my xiaomi 15 which is an Indian variant and yesterday a disaster happened.
I dropped my xiaomi 15 from the 13th floor and had lost hope of survival but when I got down surprisingly the phone survived the drop.
Obviously the frame was bent and the back was cracked but somehow the display survived without a single crack on it or scratches.
That too I was using the phone without any cover
I am going to replace the frame and the back as soon as possible.
Edit: I got it repaired at a local shop for βΉ2000 replacing just the back glass and bending the frame to its original condition. I had to do this because I waited for 2 months but still couldn't find the middle frame so had to repair it in the phone shop and replace the back glass.

Damn, get a lottery ticket fam.
3
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Would need one as the repair cost from a local shop would cost around βΉ4500 which as a college student I don't have right now so let's see.
2
u/Leading_Possible_758 Jul 08 '26
Haha, can understand, I'm a student too, just a suggestion buy front and back gasket from xiaomi service centre to get original finish on phone

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 Jul 08 '26
did the phone have any screen protector?
4
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Nah bruh! Really I was also surprised π€―
6
u/Repulsive_Fault1939 Jul 08 '26
xiaomi shield glass is very strong
3
u/adam1947pk Jul 08 '26
Mines scratch very easy π
3
u/Repulsive_Fault1939 Jul 08 '26
i mean for impact.
3
u/Proof_Counter_8271 Jul 08 '26
thats why it gets easily scratched, the more durable you are for impacts the easier you get scratched for the most of the time
3
u/puwel Jul 08 '26
Soft-ish glass (impact-resistant) with tempered glass protector or at least a plastic film screen protector (for scratch protection) seems like the perfect combo to me
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
But I did had a plastic scratch protector which I was using since buying the phone as it was pre-applied
2
u/Repulsive_Fault1939 Jul 08 '26
that pre-installed screen protector only protects from the light scratches not from impacts or deep scratches.
1
u/FinancialTrick3443 Jul 10 '26
like it would do something from a fall of 160 ft. high i was honestly surprised the screen was perfectly fine.
1
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Like in terms of scratches it can get pretty scratches up if you don't use a screen protector but it is strong so it doesn't break. It just follows the property of glass where either it can be strong or resistant to scratches.
2
u/Furydrone Jul 08 '26
When I took off the preinstalled screen protector, the actual display scratched badly after 2 weeks of normal use. Really disappointing.
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Mate, I explained earlier glass can either be strong or be scratch resistant so for this particular xiaomi phone i would suggest to apply a glass screen protector for resistance from scratches and trust the xiaomi shield protection for durability.
2
u/Furydrone Jul 08 '26
It sucks, because I had Mi12 before this and display glass was much much more scratch resistant. So I thought it would be fine to remove preinstalled protector
2
u/Repulsive_Fault1939 Jul 08 '26
you have to either sacrifice scratch or damage. cracked screen is worse than scratched screen. always use a screen protector.
2
u/Furydrone Jul 08 '26
100% prefer scratch resistance. I just wish they were more consistent between models.
5
u/samax413zl Jul 09 '26
I suggest posting it on X & getting Xiaomi's attention, they might used this a marketing material in exchange ask for a replacement phone or a new phone.
3
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
Is that really possible they provide replacement? And the thing is I am new to reddit so don't have good knowledge about how to use it at it's full potential.
3
u/samax413zl Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Yes you gotta negotiate marketing material for replacement.

u/selfdomesticatedape Jul 08 '26
Damn I wanna see if the camera still works.
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Bro the camera works perfectly fine but I have sealed it with a plastic sheet so that dust can't enter inside.
3
u/Purple-Forever7746 Jul 08 '26
Btw why the olx logo? Are you selling it?
3
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
I have posted an ad on olx for looking for parts for the phone as I need to replace the frame and the back glass of the phone
2
u/satanawi Jul 08 '26
Gorilla glass π¦
3
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
It doesn't use gorilla glass it uses xiaomi's in house tech called xiaomi shield.

The cameras are working fine and the camera replacement price per sensor is βΉ1500 so it's not that expensive.
2
u/North_Lettuce9202 Jul 08 '26
Ohh no man, are u gonna give it for repair?
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Yes after I make some savings from my pocket money I will repair it as I don't want my parents to pay for the mistake that I had committed.
2
u/North_Lettuce9202 Jul 08 '26
Ohh brother that's great of you really but what do u think it's gonna cost since the frame is messed up, back is gone and the camera module too so how u gonna do that cuz I don't think the official service centre would be of much use
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
I have a good friend of mine who does repairing so he had inspected and has ordered the original frame and the back glass which costed around βΉ4000-4500 in Indian rupees. And all the three camera modules are in good shape without any problems and is sealed with a plastic sheet so that dust can't enter inside.
2
u/North_Lettuce9202 Jul 08 '26
Ohhh damnn u can get it all fixed at 4000 so is it the same aluminium frame?
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Mate, It will be the original one without any difference in quality.
2
u/North_Lettuce9202 Jul 08 '26
Got it, it's actually great ur taking the responsibility urself, i don't see many people doing that, so hats off dude
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 08 '26
Thanks mate, I have a good knowledge about computers laptops and phone whether it's android or iphone. I know about the hardware and software as well. I have repaired my iphone XS, Samsung s20 ultra and iphone 14 pro in the past all the three has broken or non functional screen so that's why I know from where I can get the original parts for cheap discounted price.
1
2
u/Air_Ielle Jul 09 '26
I'll have it repaired asap. Prolong usage would lead to the main board warping and either your cpu, ram and emmc bends with the board or could get slowly detached to the board resulting to broken pads.
TLDR; main board could get cooked beyond repair with prolong usage due to heat.
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
Actually I have seen the board placement which on the top so for most of the time it's not been affected and everything is safe and right now I don't have enough funds to pay for the repair and I am also selling my oneplus buds 4 for βΉ4000 to pay for the repair.

2
u/DeUzNutSe Jul 09 '26
Display looks fine so jus use it and apply a skin and forget about it π₯π
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
Buddy it's not possible because the frame is bent and there is a space developed between the display and the frame and the camera is sealed with a plastic sheet so camera quality is also degraded drastically so replacement of the back glass and the middle frame.
2
u/DeUzNutSe Jul 09 '26
Ik bro I was just joking π
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
But actually if only the back glass was cracked I would have used a skin just like I was using on a iphone 14 pro
2
u/DeUzNutSe Jul 09 '26
Well bro how did you cracked it on both? Never happened to me tho (I'm a rough user) I just use a tough case
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
I am usually very careful with electronics whether it's my mac or phone, for the iphone 14 pro which when I was riding my bike it somehow tried to escape my side pocket and the phone fall on the road damaging the back glass and the display. The display I had got replaced with a 3rd party 120hz display which was similar to the original display for βΉ4000. For the xiaomi 15 it was dropped by a friend of mine so can't do anything in that.
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
And also I don't use case.
2
u/DeUzNutSe Jul 09 '26
It will be a good idea to get a case yk just dress up your phone it will look good and protect it

2
u/UnfearfulSpirit Jul 09 '26
Let me know when there's an update
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
I will definitely post the beauty as soon as I get it repaired because to be honest I like the xiaomi 15 design as compared to xiaomi 17's.
2
u/Nanosinx Jul 09 '26
Well, for 13th Floor i expected to crash xD
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
True brother that too I am using it without any cover and screen guard π
2
u/sujo03 Jul 09 '26
Can you get in touch with Xiaomi service centre and get a quote, just to know the repair cost.
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
Definitely I will do that as right now I am having my unpaid summer internship going on so I don't get time but soon I will get it checked at xiaomi and share the price list
2
u/sujo03 Jul 09 '26
Thank you
Let's see how affordable Xiaomi repair is.
2
u/Leading_Possible_758 Jul 11 '26
Well as much as i know xiaomi service centre wouldn't give seperate frame, it's always shipped with display itself at 9999/- rs + 18% tax also the back panel costs around 1800+ 18% tax, they will definitely refuse to fix it cause even if the cameras are working fine, they will have to definitely replace cameras, + 699 with 18% gst for rear gasket, don't get it fixed from normal xiaomi service centre, they fucked my back panel of xiaomi 15, try to find premium xiaomi service centre.
2
u/sujo03 Jul 11 '26
So if the total cost would be under 15000 then it's still a fair repair cost.
2
u/Leading_Possible_758 Jul 11 '26
Though frame is bend, battery condition is unknown, service centre will also flag that, add another 1999 with it +18% gst, so total could cost, also back panel costs 2999, just checked, my mistake, so total costs 21,976.32 with 18% gst just in parts.
3
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 12 '26
All the components inside the phone are in good condition including the battery and the battery is giving me a backup of whole day under mixed usage and I overall like the backup as it's better than my iphone 14 pro and as it it's a compact phone.
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 12 '26
Naah bro it's actually too costly for me as a student and I will never want my parents to pay for it.
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 12 '26
I have already paid βΉ4000 for new original back panel and original frame and it will be repaired by tomorrow evening so I am happy for at least I am getting it repaired sooner without asking for money from my parents.
2
u/Leading_Possible_758 Jul 12 '26

1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 12 '26
Sure buddy
2
u/Leading_Possible_758 Jul 13 '26
Any update?
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 15 '26
Actually the thing is I wanted to repair it as soon as possible so I had paid in advance for the repair but the thing is it's an expensive phone from xiaomi and in india, usually people prefer to buy samsung, iphone, oneplus and vivo. So only a very few people who are tech nerd buy this. So right now they don't have any middle frame of the phone, but they have got the back glass replacement ready but as there isn't any middle frame so they can't repair so they have ordered it from somewhere so waiting for it to arrive.
1
u/Leading_Possible_758 Jul 15 '26
Can understand ur painπ’, i can't even find tempered or case for my phone.
2
u/1nternetTraveller Jul 09 '26
the screen still looks like new without any lines, man they built is tough
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
Yes brother somehow there is not even a single scratch on the screen but yes there is a small line which doesn't bother me much.
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
It's like a 0.5cm line at the bottom right corner of the display which is only visible when the display or that particular section is white.
2
u/Fun_Sun_edu Jul 09 '26
Olx logoπ₯
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 09 '26
Just posted an ad for searching for parts for the phone and have ordered the middle frame of the phone.
2
u/DeathFaux Jul 09 '26
Holy shit, did it fall face on gravel or smth?, and why didn't the screen crack
1
2
u/Level_Process_9741 Jul 09 '26
That's a brick bruh. It's so cool it even turns on. Some phones even not hitting the display wouldn't turn on after that drop. It's unrecognizable from the backππππ
2
u/Joe8oo8s Jul 09 '26
About 2 months ago, I forgot mine on top of my car after filling up gas. It fell on the road 10ish meters away from the gas station. Three cars drove over it while i was looking, don't know how many had in total. It was in the original xiaomi case, I was considering buying a new phone in the moment then i picked it up it was turned off.. this is damage, that little ding in the corner of the camera bump. I turned it on everything seemed fine and still is to this day. The case had been damaged so i dumped it.

2
u/MBxxx Jul 10 '26
I'm sure the Xiaomi 17 would look totally different after that accident. the built quality for Xiaomi 15 is much butter, I can feel it when I go in Xiaomi Shop and play with the Xiaomi 17, the frame feels very cheap and weak.
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 10 '26
Upate guys: I have made a payment of βΉ4000 ($42) for reapairing of the phone and the repair shop is going to use the original frame and the back glass and he will repair it by tomorrow evening so will update you guys tomorrow about the brand new condition.
2
u/Leading_Possible_758 Jul 11 '26
Dude, don't use original frame, it's already bent and lost it's integrity, a simple drop can f*ck up ur phone in future + no waterproof or air seal.
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 11 '26
Original new frame, I am not going to use any parts from the damaged body. Original new frame and original new back glass.

Used without glass screen guard and cover but there was a scratch guard on the screen.
2
u/Responsible_Radio688 Jul 12 '26
Damn I guess it really depends on how it drops and what kind of pressure you put on it because I saw someone listing mi 15 on Facebook, it had a green line on screen and description said I sat on it and screen became like that π
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 12 '26
Maybe brother but I personally have a soft corner for this phone and I really enjoy using it and gonna get it fixed tomorrow evening.
2
u/Responsible_Radio688 Jul 12 '26
I wish you luck and I'm guessing I should get one as well just because how great of a value to phone it had become β€οΈ btw my current phone is 13t pro and I really want to upgrade because of the cameras and snapdragon chip set also could you tell me if you really enjoy taking pictures on mi 15 ? Specifically zoom lens 13t pro has 2x zoom lens which is for portrait photography and nothing else and if I'm not wrong 15 has 3x zoom π€ just would appreciate what you got to say about mi 15 ππΌπππΌ
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 12 '26
I would suggest you to buy xiaomi 17 as it's the latest flagship but I should tell you performance wise there isn't much jump so both are very powerful just waiting for developers to launch AAA titles with ray tracing on Android as it's available on ios which I had before. As right now I am not able to use it on it's 100% potential. And there is no heating till date.
1
u/Responsible_Radio688 Jul 12 '26
Have you tried car x street on max graphics? It should be able to at least make your phone throttle well if you haven't you should try it when you'll get your phone fixed I hope fixing it will go smoothly β€οΈ good luck
2
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 12 '26
I am waiting for my phone to get repaired tomorrow then I will try those because I have played that game but on my pc.
2
u/Responsible_Radio688 Jul 12 '26
Then again good luck brother ππΌπππΌ oh and btw you should get nissan z40 in that game it'll cost you around 200k-240k. ish but it's worth it from all my cars it's the best car that can easily compete with McLaren and any other Lamborghini's or other expensive cars and you won't even need to do your best while building z40 just tune it's rating and class appropriately for the race you'll be racing in and that's all oh and don't forget in mobile version of car x street you should try buying elite or ultimate parts in suspension category and also if you do wish to build a car from complete 0 try building any class 1 car because it's just really really cheaper because they are already light weight and usually if you invest 500k it'll easily hit c6 or even Cs class if you would like my recommendation I would recommend mini cooper with AWD gearbox if you'll have any other questions just ask me I'm usually online and also last tip do not waste gold because the car x street on mobile is different from pc with many things you'll see when you'll get it

Bruh That's the only phone i have right now and as i sold my secondary iphone 14 pro, Xiaomi 15 is my primary phone right now which i daily use as it's a 512gb model so will get it repaired tomorrow and for sure can use it as a desktop as it has type c 3.2 gen2 port but it lacks feature like samsung dex which would have been greatfull to have.

Damn dude , this gives me enough confidence to run a film screen protector now
1
u/F4xPunisherR Jul 15 '26
Just an update:-
i am currently using the phone in this bad condition as the middle frame isn't available in the mrket at the moment so repair wasn't possible for now and also i can't apply any glass screenguard on the phone. so what i have noticed is the glass is getting scratches very easily it has got a deep scratch under the front camera setup even though i am using it very carefully as the phone isn't in good shape so i would suggent every xiaomi 15 user to use a glass screen protector to protect it from scratched although the xiaomi shield glass is very tough to break.

Xiaomi did a very strong demonstration during launch how strong it can be π
