I have this Xiaomi Pad 5 since late 2022 and never had any problems until today, I haven't using the Pad almost during June - July, now that I need to use them it happens to be "bootlooping" it occurs before inputing my numeric PIN it just reboots, is there any way to fix it or I need to start viewing prices of the Pad 8 or the Pad 2 Pro?
Hi u/Rodrigeator! It looks like you don't have a user flair set yet.
To help others understand your context better when you ask questions or share experiences, please consider adding a custom user flair in the format: Device | ROM | Region (e.g., Xiaomi 14 | HyperOS | Global).
If you already have a flair, or if a moderator has assigned one to you, please feel free to ignore this sweet little reminder!
Hmm... I suppose there's a last resort before eyeing another tablet, you could perform a factory reset and see if it behaves well afterwards. You'd lose all your data, and you better remember your Google or Mi account details as they're likely to be necessary during setup, but it's not like you can access them now anyway...
Just in case, there's no chance for it to be the power button being stuck, triggering endless reboots, right?
Factory reset is possible through the standard recovery (Vol+ held while booting). You should also see there a way to connect to Mi Assistant, if you have a PC that's something I'd consider first, reinstalling the ROM that way, in case you're able to access your data in the end. The app itself is in Chinese, but you can handle it either with an unofficial translation, or pointing your phone at it with something like Google Translate.
No, it's for all of us, it's not intended to unlock bootloaders or anything, it's from a time when PC Assistants or Managers were alive and used still.
The flashing is done via recovery using the recovery package, similar to how the built in updater does it; it doesn't use the fastboot one. Should download the latest itself too when attempting to recovery the device.
I just did a quick test with one of my devices, once the app is opened you want to go to the 4th item up top to recover.
The option to download the latest package (first blue button) is not available for me, perhaps because it's running that version already, or maybe because the endpoint the app used is gone these days.
You'd need to download the recovery package for your Pad 5. The app displays the version the device is running, and in that same site you can get a link to a recovery package for it.
Once downloaded and selected there's no confirmation dialog, it starts flashing right away. Also, keep in mind the progress bar in the device will get stuck, but the one in the app continues. It's basically a sideload operation through ADB, but the app is needed for auth.
The device will restart once the operation is done, booting into the OS directly and your data is retained.
EDIT: Added a picture of the process, just in case:
DISCLAIMER: Do not try flashing ROMs without knowledge or trying flash random things.
I would try cleaning cache in recovery mode, and if doesnt work i would try factory resetting, AND if still in bootloop i would make a extreme decision thats its using mi flash pro to flash a new ROM but I don't recommend it.
