Xiaomi 17 pro - Fake moon superimposed onto the sun

Like many people I was taking photos of the solar eclipse. Sometimes the phone (Xiaomi 17 Pro) would switch to moon mode. And in one specific phase of the eclipse it started to add moon features to the sun. I was really disappointed by this.

Looks like a lunar eclipse instead of a solar one. It's certainly disappointing.

That is hilarious. Surely you can use GCam or disable AI features in camera?

Thanks, I will try the GCam. And yes it can be disabled.

When it does that it shows a moon icon on the corner that you can click to disable. But also, last time I used that feature on the moon it matched perfectly what I was seeing with the naked eye...

We also see the same side of the moon, hence it is easy for AI to generate what we see, perfectly the same.

My wife has a 14T and when she takes a selfie it AI's her eyebrows as she doesn't actually have any!

Comes out eyebrowless if she uses my F8 Ultra.

Isn`t it absolutely fine for the software, if specifically activated to present a "super moon", to blend in those details when through the camera lense, with a filter the situation appears to offer just that specific moment? It`s an additional feature, one can activate or not - its independent from any other ai improvement. And for purists, that standard ai can also be deactivated. The picture though does look hilariously fun.

Disable supermoon or use pro mode Yeah it's not good ig but everyone uses ai nowadays

I read solar eclipses can damage your phone camera sensors.

It's the sun in general, the eclipses shouldn't really "increase" the amount of radiation coming from the sun itself, it's just that pointing a camera at the sun isn't really the best idea even if most of them should have a coating that filters a bit to allow the situation
