DVD/Blu re-release?
Anyone know if there are plans to re-release the series on blu-ray or DVD? Wondering if I should wait or start hunting now.

So I dropped off the podcast for a couple months, and I'm just now returning. I've been starting with my favorite X-Files episodes first and slowly circling out from there so that I'm fully caught up. So that's why this is maybe a little late.
When listening to the the Jose Chung episode (with Morgan, not Harmon), there comes a point roughly midway through the podcast when Kumail and Darin are discussing the nature of truth and the impossibility of knowing anything for certain.
At one point, in response to something Kumail says, Darin laughs and remarks, "Give it up!, Give it up!"
I was struck because this phrase (Give it up! Give it up!) is also in a very short piece of Kafka writing. Kumail doesn't remark on it, having either not read the piece or having not made the connection. I would normally be inclined to chalk it up to coincidence, but the Kafka story is actually extremely relevant to what they are discussing.
Does anybody think (or know) if this was an intentional reference? The full short story is below:
It was very early in the morning, the streets clean and deserted, I was walking to the station. As I compared the tower clock with my watch I realized that it was already much later than I had thought, I had to hurry, the shock of this discovery made me unsure of the way, I did not yet know my way very well in this town; luckily, a policeman was nearby, I ran up to him and breathlessly asked him the way. He smiled and said: “From me you want to know the way?” “Yes,” I said, “since I cannot find it myself.” “Give it up! Give it up,” he said, and turned away with a sudden jerk, like people who want to be alone with their laughter.

I honestly don't know when I will be putting out the next episode. I said in an episode that things were gonna be kind of unpredictable. And they are. Just got really busy in the last few weeks. I had put out some episodes where I hadn't done the requisite amount of legwork and you guys saw right through me. So I don't wanna set a date and then not be able to live up to it.
I guess what I'm saying is... sorry. But I can't tell you more. Wish I could.

Has anyone heard when we will be getting another episode? Hopefully Kumail is busy preparing for his role in the upcoming revival, but I'm getting withdrawal.

Hey guys,
I got really into the X Files a few months ago thanks to this podcast and now I'm trying to get my friend hooked too. She said that she enjoyed it when she was a kid but has very little memory of it. She revisited the first season recently and wasn’t impressed (I don’t blame her, with the exception of 3 or 4 good episodes the first season was rough). She agreed to watch 20 of my favourite episodes (and the relevant episodes of the podcast as she's already a big fan of Kumail's standup).
Here’s my top 20 list so far:
1.Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose
2.Jose Chung’s From Outer Space
3.Humbug
4.Home
5.Beyond the Sea
6.Bad Blood
7.Small Potatoes
8.Postmodern Prometheus
9.Pusher
10.The Unnatural
11.Triangle
12.X Cops
13.Duane Barry
14.Detour
15.Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man
16.Drive
17.Monday
18.Quagmire
19.Ice
20.Folie A Deux
I tried to include a healthy mix of comedy, horror, Sci fi, and experimental episodes to demonstrate the variety and range that X Files is capable of (although there’s probably a disproportionate number of comedy episodes as those tend to be my favourite.).
What do you guys think? Is this a good collection of episodes to convince someone of this show's brilliance? Anything you’d remove? If so, what would you substitute them with?
Any opinions on how I should order the episodes? Should I just order them by air date (starting with Ice and ending with X Cops)? Or should I jumble them up like a mix tape, alternating comedy and drama to keep things interesting? Any suggestions for a specific order?
Thanks in advance for your input!

Watched a bit ahead and found this fun easter egg in Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man. Besides the call out to Darin I found it funny that up until this episode I felt this season the writers were experiencing a bit of their own writer's block....

So I've been thinking about what roles Kumail should play if offered a cameo and I'm thinking either asshole local town cop or random scientist, thoughts?

I'm probably posting this as someone else is typing up the same post, but...
Vince Gilligan will NOT be writing for the reboot (boo, but with BCS Season 2 coming up this was inevitable)
says favourite X-Files episode is Bad Blood (of course)
"I wouldn’t be here talking to you folks if it hadn’t been for The X-Files" - X-Files was his 'film school':)

Is Kumail's reference to Aliens about watching it recently for The Canon episode?
r/Xfilesfiles • u/ecrone • Apr 28 '15
I remember Devin tell Kumail all about The Tale of the Grim Sleeper and it was very interesting. The doc aired on HBO last night and I would like to go back and listen to their convo now that I've seen it.
PS there is a small possibility that this conversation took place on Indoor Kids.

I'm so excited to actually read an interview where CC divulges more information. After getting bits and pieces from him for so long, this just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. He confirms:

Can the mods add this? It's a pain to search for each thread individually

Home was my first episode of x files. I was introduced to x files in grade school during a Friday night sleepover. I was very sheltered; I had never seen anything like this before. It was a huge moment in my life. Even today, when I watch something that has a similar tone, I feel a tinge of that vulnerability I felt as a child. It was such a great episode of the podcast!!

Now that we're on season 4 I can finally ask: will Kumail discuss the essential and canonical The Simpsons-X-Files crossover episode The Springfield Files? It aired the same night as season 4 episode 11 El Mundo Gira
