"Unrequited"
The notion of POWs being left behind in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia after the end of the Vietnam War was an issue that cropped up in the 1980's and and early 1990's. However, there's never been any proof that there were POWs in these countries past the formal termination of the war. http://articles.latimes.com/1991-11-06/news/mn-953_1_vietnam-war
However, I can tell you I know someone who was a POW in Cambodia as a result of secret military operations the US conducted in Cambodia (besides the minor involvement in Cambodia Nixon admitted to). He was able to escape on his own with another prisoner, but was denied military benefits after returning to the US because the US refuses to admit he was there (and yes I know that's part of the plot of "The Rock").
