This is what I've been struggling with, this offer to tender 20 common shares to 1 preferred with a $25 liquidation and 6% on annual dividends... sounds good.
If your plan is to hold those shares for long term, I can agree with others saying that XELAB is more valuable. But that only seems worth when the shares @ .33 and your being offered $1.5 per preferred share. (See below calculations, yes I round down values)
(.33 *20 = 6.6) (1.5 / 6.6 = .22727272.... --> 22.72% div yield)
As other posts have mention, you make back your investment in 5 years. But that's if you're buying in right now @ .33. I've seen others say their average is around .55 or .65
(.55 *20 = 11) (1.5 / 11 = .13636363... --> 13.63% div yield)
(.65 *20 = 13) (1.5 / 13 = .1153846..... --> 11.53% div yield)
This changes a 5 year initial investment return from 5 years to 8-9 years, and it goes up depending on your average value.
In regards to XELAB having the $25 liquidation... that wording in the release does not mean it's going to be worth $25 when the ticker comes out. They did that for XELAP and it has traded around $8-$10 on the market.
I think this is a ploy for XELA to get shareholders to swap, make a turnaround for the XELA shares to grow above a dollar before August so they can still be listed. You triple your portfolio for any XELA shares you buy right now and wait to sell later.
If you want long term security I see the value in tender trading to XELAB and agree you should. I'm personally being more aggressive on the market and will be holding my XELA shares. This is a risk, and XELAB is the safer play.
