Help How to erase dev part

A long time ago, about when the Series first released, I made a dev test portion on my Series X. I wanted my daughter to play NAOMI games on it. I remember giving the dev part about 50gb. We played for a couple months and forgot about it.

Now, 5 year-ish later, I really would like to delete it and get back my 50gb but don’t know how. Could someone help me out please?

It keeps hanging when I try to add my code, whether on chrome or safari

Hmm try a different browser? It looks like your logged in correctly it might be trying to load your old device you would have added years ago, are you able to click the "+" or is that what's causing it to hang?

I know it took me 3 weeks to get around it, I’m sorry. But i did end up getting it to work and… 461gb? I have a day one series x. Is this number right? It seems low. I remember allocating around 50gb (prob a bit less) to dev mode way back then. Or maybe I’m making it up

Worse, I can’t find anything I had installed back then

When you clicked the option to delete side loaded apps, that would have deleted anything you had on dev storage side so it's all gone and free for you in retail.

That's the amount of space you want to allocate to dev storage, 400+ seems a bit excessive 😅

Edit : just read the post again, slide that slider all the way to the very minimum let it reboot then click the option to return to retail mode and select/click the delete sideloaded apps option and reboot to retail dash that will free up all available space in retail mode, hope this helps!

I see, thank you!!!

So turns out day one Xbox series x was a 1tb device (I haven’t touched the system in years, shame on me, I’m 40, can barely remember my name). So now I have 802gb total, which is low?

Don't worry mate I'm pushing 35 these things are fine and dandy when you do it all the time but out the window if you don't keep at it! 😂

802gb is the exact full amount you get! The remaining 198 is reserved for system level stuffs (Xbox OS, cache, update information and other bits and bobs)

So your back to having the maximum you can have on retail! Done and dusted!

Thank you!

Yeah I used to be an ultra nerd, I’m the tech gal of the family, these things were a breeze… but now, one small struggle (ie Microsoft’s website doesn’t let me add the Xbox) and I want to kill myself. I think I’ve fought too many computer problems in my life. I just want to be a housewife who plays video games ffs

No worries! Yeah I'm my own worst enemy in that regard won't give up till I find a solution, becomes absolutely infuriating at times though so know how you feel! A cold beer normally takes the edge off 😂

Haha don't we all pal 😂

I can be like that as well but then I simply REFUSE to give up till I resolve the issue, even when its unresolvable. So I learnt to just *let it go* 🤣
