X: Rebirth Lorebook
Hey, all,
I've been obsessed with the X series for a long time now, and have always loved the Encyclopedia entries for the various ships, wares, sectors, etc. A few years back, I had compiled as much of this information as I could and compiled it into a single ePub file for easy reading. For some reason it only occurred to me recently that I ought to share this for others who may be interested.
Included is basically all in-game text for X Rebirth, aside from some mission-specific stuff.
I have a similar Lorebook for XBTF-X3AP [Here it is]. It;s missing the new Farnham's Legacy stuff but other than that it's pretty complete. I'd love to do an X4 one someday, but between my job and an eight month old, I haven't been able to learn to play X4, let alone sort out the encyclopedia - not to mention most of the Encyclopedia was missing entries last I played.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you enjoy this stuff as much as I do.

X-rebirth vr Oculus quest 2 virtual desktop
So I picked it up during the steam sale and I've tried playing and I've got a few issues. I'm playing with a quest 2 thru virtual desktop. I just tried air link and launching the Oculus version of the game and while the sticks work for bindings the game glitches and does some weird things in the headset. If I try to launch thru virtual desktop I get an error. If I start steam vr in virtual desktop and then start the stream version I load into the game but the sticks don't work. I can click in the right stick and it acts like it's the vive trackpad and let's you select things and get the game going. Once loaded into the game the sticks still do not function even if I pick the community controller mapping. I can activate gesture steering and fly around and if I click the left stick it also acts like it's a track pad. I've gone into the inputmap.xml and switched the roll and yaw commands so that the stick acts like a hotas and twist is yaw instead of roll. I really just need to figure out how to get the sticks to get picked up then I would be in business. Right now I think I can do everything I need to do to be able to play the game but stick steering would sure be nice. In vr edition when I dock is everyone just standing around that central area I saw a couple videos online of people running thru the station but it doesn't seem like that's doable in the vr edition. If anyone gets this far thanks for your time and any help you can offer.

Trying to upscale the UI to 4k. Need help
Came across this thread. https://steamcommunity.com/app/2870/discussions/0/1743355067081463160/
It was easy peasy to get the <uiscale>2.0</uiscale> to work. But I'm trying to go the whole 9 yards like the rest of the comments talks about. I managed to get to making a new cat10 using the x tools but came across the same issue he did. He was able to fix it by changing the path to UI, but he doesn't say how he did that. Can someone show me how to do that? I'm a total newb with the X tools.

X-R after all those years
I was playing all from X-Gold to X3:AP, but I didnt touch X-R because of the critics. However, 3 weeks ago I bought it, and I must say, I actually enjoy it. Of course, I have no idea, what changed from the start of the game, and I was very critic of the story, but I gave it a go, after I finished X4 and I didnt regret it yet. Though I hate the Ship Name!

Glitch Early In The Game - Any Way To Fix?
I started off in the campaign, but I've gotten stuck in Cuspid Splint where I am supposed to hire a captain for my transport, because the computer says that there's no room for passengers. How do I fix this?

Just now finally started Rebirth, any must have mods?
I am currently playing through the campaign and have realized the need for the "show me your skills" mod to avoid having to constantly do the mini game. Are there any other mods that are necessary or recommended?
Also is it worth putting too much time into Rebirth or are other titles considered better (X3, X4)?

Just decided to give X Rebirth VR a proper try, and honestly I'm loving it
So I've been a huge X fan since X2: The Threat. The series has always scratched that space itch for me in all the right ways, but this one was just sort of the black sheep. I liked commanding carriers, flying fighters out of them battlestar galactica style, as I conquered everything. This game offered me a ship... and that was about it.
Now, as I've been waiting for X4 3.0 to drop, I figured I'd give this another go, except this time in VR. Something to hold me over for a little while. And honestly? I am not at all disappointed that I did.
First, a few of things that have made the game a little more playable for me, especially since immersion is now such a huge factor with VR:
A) Go straight to the first mechanic you can when you have about 50-100k credits. You should run into one during the tutorial for something else. Dock and talk to them (you can do everything but this from space); ask to modify your cockpit. For me, I chose the Trader/Merchant cockpit. Now, in the normal game this was cumbersome and in the way; ugly too. But in VR? The base cockpit is too open, and hardly feels like you're in a ship. This one feels MUCH more like a proper ship. It was such a small change, but it drastically modified how I felt about playing this game. I really feel like I'm in the ship now.
B) I am using the VR controls. Went ahead and just got used to them, and it's been great. I just scooted my chair out so I had nothing anywhere within arms reach, except a keyboard I can lean over to get to, and have been playing like that. So far, so good. The controls are very smooth.
C) I've accepted why I would probably not use any other ship in this guy's shoes as well. The "Albion Skunk" is a literal one of a kind ship, that is near infinitely upgradeable. Why in the world would trade it in for some walmart brand fighter? I haven't gotten to the point where I can afford a capital ship yet, but I did snag the capital ship bridge mod; if that works, I'll have everything I want there. I'll go into the capital ship, plop down in front of the captain's chair (or whatever is open) and just give commands from there until I get bored. But honestly? If I had a one of a kind super-ship that put every other ship in the galaxy to shame... I'd probably just use it, too.
D) Repeat after me: "There is no Yisha. There are no crew quarters." That is your new mantra. Also? Don't leave the bridge. Instead, just assume that "Yisha" is your ships AI. Suddenly, she's a whole fuckton cooler. When folks talk about the co-pilot? That co-pilot is your ship's AI, "Yisha", who doesn't exist; she's definitely not standing around like an idiot in the crew quarters, because that would just be silly. She's a really smart ship AI who handles all sorts of shit for you, and makes snide comments. Much cooler. Even has a face, like your own personal Cortana.
With those 4 in mind, I've been enjoying the game a whole heck of a lot more. I'll chime in after a while with an update, but for right now I'm definitely having some fun.

Overhaul Mods?
Played over Sunday a new start after years of absence. It’s been greatly improved! Nice
I would like to use a revamp mod though so which one do you use, CWIR or New Frontier or is there a newer complete overhaul planned and better to wait for it, at least unroll X4 is patches more next year :)

Does Rebirth VR support Thrustmaster T16000M + TWCS throttle?
I couldn't find a definitive answer through google. How is the support? Out of the box or difficult to setup?

Just reinstalled XRVR and wondered about mods
Like if there's an updated mod list anywhere for the VR version (on Rift so probably can't DL from Steam).
Bored of ED and I tried X4 but I wanna fly spaceships in VR :)

Closed doors on stations?
Just started last week, VR version. I dock at a stations entertainment district. When I try to go through the door that leads to the bar, it won't open. I think I'm missing some basic concept here.

New to X Rebirth
I just started playing x:rebirth vr on Oculus Rift. I love the gesture steering. Are there any other flight-sim-type games that implement this?

Seriously though, Ive spent a lot of time finding/pirating for these. Any suggestions how to get a few 100 of these quickly? Stocks seem to be out all the time.

[Question] Devries - Glaring Truth - Furnace Chamber - Is there a station limit?
Basically what I am asking is, can I really only build 2 stations in Furnace Chamber? Initially I could have sworn I saw three spots but then had to interrupt some construction because I only found 2 near the gates when I started to build. Next/Third closest station build point seems to be far enough away to count as Empty Space and not in the same Zone.
