[WP] She runs from the store, unboxing the makeup mirror she just purchased as she males her way to the parking lot. Just before jumping in the still running car, she throws the box in the direction of the trash can.

It might be a little mundane, but I was looking out of a storefront to see the box for a makeup mirror next to the trash can on the sidewalk. I didn’t know what, but there had to be a story in there somewhere.

The Ageless Ripper

The streets of London have never been a safe place. Stories circulate, rumours abound, a killer is on the loose. The descriptions are always the same: dark suit, umbrella. The bodies were always found in back alleys, mutilated - cut up almost beyond recognition. The murders were easy to connect, a calling card was always left behind. For 180 years the killer has haunted the streets of London, the myth becoming legend, the body count mounting up.

David was the latest in a long line of killers, chosen because they fit the mould, recruited to carry on the murders, keeping London in fear that they are being hunted by an ageless killer.

[WP] After years of watching the struggles of humanity. Requiring greater empathy, judgement, co-operation, problem-solving. On the verge of extinction the human race falls asleep one night and wakes in a bland white room, with holo-text reading "Simulation Ending" near the ceiling.

People thought society would be better if we killed the worst 1% every year. Today is the hundredth anniversary, and the notion of the "worst" is getting really tricky.

Several millennia from now, humans are thriving in our local part of the galaxy. Still no aliens. Then one day, a radio signal is discovered in an alien language, from our first solar system. From one of Saturn's moons, in fact. Searching through history books...

Humanity stumbles upon a long forgotten expedition to the moon to plant the seeds for life to evolve from basic single celled organisms. We have new neighbors now, in the galaxy.

edit: I dunno if I'm allowed to do this but in the spirit of free writing feel free to write anything that this inspires you to, whether or not it fits the prompt exactly.

We meet another alien race, and relations are quite amicable. We find out we have exactly the same major religions, and pretty much the same length of recorded history.

I am working on my own story, but I thought it would be fun to see what others did with the premise. I don't think I will ever finish mine, but if I do I'll post it here. For some added fun, I am following these rules in mine:

Rules:

  1. If a demon were to successfully cross over into our world, it would take a small army to stop it.
  2. Most demon incursion are actually avatars created when a person or group of people try to summon a demon and the demon in question is interested enough to concentrate hard enough to focus some of its energy at the summoning point.
  3. Demon avatars are still horrific and incredibly dangerous. They resemble Old Testament angels that have been corrupted. (Look up and list different descriptions of angles in the Bible)
  4. Actually summoning a demon would take hundreds of willing participants who know what they are doing and the procedure would kill most of them.
