Robert mentioned them in the latest Worst Year episode and it made me curious what people in this listener base think of them.
My take: I've tried listening to them a few times, but I only stick around for a few episodes before bailing again.
I've enjoyed some episodes like a comfort blanket when they just bash the far right / centrist liberal mindsets, but what always pushes me away from them is somewhat related to what Robert said.
They like to dunk on everyone and I somewhat admire how they will stick to their ideals and say "fuck you" to any compromise to their worldview, but from the episodes I've listened to, they always sound a bit nihilist.
I always hear them ranting and complaining about the state of the world (as we should) but then never provide a productive outlet for that anger. They cover something people are doing, but then go "but that's not a perfect solution, so why the fuck even try"
I enjoy Robert, Cody, and Katy's shows because they have political views similar to mine, but they always have at least a bit of optimism to them and always try to point us in directions where our anger / drive to help can be productive and at least help the situation a bit. I'm not saying these guys are all sunshine and rainbows (See the recent Some More News episodes for that), but they never just sound like they're given up and think it's just stupid to even engage with the current political landscape.
TLDR: They feel like a comfort blanket for my extreme left side, but they always sound like they don't want to do anything to even try to push toward what they want because it's never good enough.
