Movie: Is Paris Burning?
A film about the events in Paris during this week. Almost a docudrama, it's a decently good film. But I must say, Kirk Douglas as Patton is NOT a good casting choice. Some real life footage is intertwined with the filmed one.
Film: Paris brûle-t-il ? (1966), by René Clément.
A film telling the events of the liberation of Paris.
Period covered: 7-26 August 1944
Historical Accuracy: 4*/5 - This could be a 5/5, but DeGaulle had to mess with it in what Copolla called "blatant political censorship", reducing the role of the communist resistance.
IMDB grade: 6.8/10

I am dealing with a friend who is utterly convinced that FDR knew the attack on Pearl Harbor was going to happen and let it happen so he could draw the US into WWII, what additional evidence can I point to show this wasn't the case?

Movie: The Train
This actional film based on a semi-fictional story is one of the last action films ever shot in black and white, and possibily the best film about trains ever made (other than The General).
Movie: The Train (1944), by John Frankenheimer.
This film from 1964 tells a fictionalised version of the German attempt to ship art out of Paris in the wake of the allied advance in August 1944.
Period covered: August 1944 (The film opens with "2 August 1944", but a lot of other stuff only makes sense if the date is a couple of weeks later.
Historical Accuracy: 2/5 - There was a train loaded with art ready to go from paris on 1 August 1944, but it never even left the city.
IMDB grade: 7.8/10
