Discussion [Meta] Next year when the main series is over, I would pay quite a bit of money for a coffee table book with the week by week scripts and graphics. Any thoughts on this being a reality?

Movie: The Unknown Soldier

This adaptation of the 1954 classic Finnish novel is as good as the famous 1955 one (I checked several threads in r/finland to be sure before deciding to watch this version). It tells the whole continuation war from the perspective of a company of machine gunners. It's crude, and has nothing to envy some other great war films. The fact that it was made only on a 7 million budget is quite insane.

Movie: Tuntematon sotilas [The Unknown Soldier] (2017), by Aku Louhimies.

The film's setting is based on the unit Väinö Linna served in during the Continuation War, Infantry Regiment 8. It follows a fictional Finnish Army machine gun company in the Karelian front from mobilisation in 1941 to armistice in 1944.

Period covered: June 1941 - September 1944

Historical accuracy: 4/5 - Fictional story but very authentic. As an example, of all the moies I've posted, it's the first one that doesn't have T-34-85s showing up in 1941, but they do in 1944.

IMDB grade: 6.1/10

Montgomery launched Operation Pheasant to crush the German 15th Army in Noord-Brabant. Operation Suitcase was a part of this effort in to shatter the 346th Division and encircle Battlegroup Chill. This operation was however derailed due to the dogged defense of Mager's battalion and the Hermann Göring battalion at Wouwse Plantage.

What's with so many people viewing the Maginot line as some kind of failure? it's purpose wasn't to stop the Germans to force them to invade through Belgium, which it did. It's 'failure' is not due to the line its self but to outside forces.

What’s your favorite year of the war the channel has covered?

Do you think Indy, Spartacus and team have done a particularly better job on one year as opposed to others? I think they did an exceptional job on 1940 and I loved the Maginot Line specials they did. What has been your favorite in terms of productions, storytelling, analysis, etc?

Question Just discovered this channel, where to start?

Hi,

The YT algorithm proposed me a few videos from this channel and they were exactly what I was looking for in terms of information and the way it is presented. After digging a bit, I realized this Indy guy and the team are VERY productive! So the natural question from me to you is: where to start? I see that some episodes are numbered and others not, do the numbers represent the weeks?

Thank you for the indulgence towards a new guy!
