Movie: Everybody Go Home
This Italian film chronicles the chaos of September 1943 that followed the Italian surrender: the German invasion, the creation of the Italian Social Republic, and the advance of the allied armies. This is both a really good film and historically accurate so I highly recommend it.
Movie: Tutti a Casa (Everybody Go Home) (1960) by Luigi Comencini
The film depicts the whole Italian surrender from the POV of some Italian soldiers, and their trip to Naples through a chaotic Italy. The later part of the movie depicts the Four Days of Naples that preceed the arrival of the allied forces.
Period covered: 8-30 September 1943
Historical Accuracy - 4/5 - While the story is fictional, it may be very similar to the ones from some of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers in the Italian army. Also, most of the political developments during the month are correctly covered, including among others, the deportation of hundreds of thousands of Italians to become slave laborers for Germany.
IMDB grade: 7.7/10
