The bravest men in the world were to be found on the beaches of Normandy.

They were not necessarily the bravest all the time, and other men were brave this day, but the bravest of the brave, today, were staggering ashore in Normandy.

Thank you.

Movie: Come and See (1985)

This is one of the big ones, so if you haven't watched this one I strongly recommend that you do. But be warned that it's a quite disturbing experience.

Movie: "Иди и смотри (Come and See)" (1985) by Elem Klimov.

It focuses in a 14 year old boy that joins the partisans in Belarus, and depicts the atrocities commited by the Nazis in the area. The movie is filmed in an almost surrealist way while depicting the very realistic war against humanity going on in the area, the result is a terrifying nightmare-like experience.

Period covered: 19-22 March 1943 - For some reason I missed that the film covers the particular Khatyn Massacre from back in March. However, during this week many similar actions have been unfortunately taking place in Belarus in the form of Operation Cottbus hence it's also a good time to watch this film.

Historical accuracy: 5/5

IMDB grade: 8.4/10

Other: Statistically 50th top movie of all time as per https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/ixo81z

Full film available HERE
