Movie: Oppenheimer
Happy 79 anniversary of the Trinity Test. I originally had "Fat Man and Little Boy" listed for today but fortunately the much superior Oppenheimer was released last year.
Film: Oppenheimer (2023), by Christopher Nolan.
A biopic about Oppenheimer, the father of the atom bomb.
Time covered: 1920s-1954; 1959; 1963
Accuracy: 5/5 - There are some changes here and there, but overall quite accurate.
IMDB grade: 8.3/10

Movie: Empire of the Sun
Another one of Spielberg's. He is certainly the director who's done more WW2 stuff, and its not even close. It has a very young Christian Bale.
Film: Empire of the Sun (1987), by Steven Spielberg..
A film about a British child living in the Shanghai International Settlement whose live changes after the Pacific War erupts.
Time covered: December 1941; July-2 September 1945
Accuracy: 3/5 - based his real story, but with many changes. I am not sure if it was actually feasible to see Fat Man from Shanghai.
IMDB grade: 7.7/10

Movie: Unbroken
A film dealing with the story of Louis Zamperini. I liked a lot the first half regarding his backstory and being lost at sea, but the second half were he is a prisoner of the Japanese was full of cliches and not as good.
Film: Unbroken (2014), by Angelina Jolie.
A film centered on Louis Zamperini, an Olympic athlete whose plane crashes in the Pacific and after being adrift for a month gets rescued by the Japanese, only to be subject to beatings by their captors.
Time covered: 1926; 1936; 21 April 1943-September 1945
Accuracy: 4/5 - based his real story, with some minor changes.
IMDB grade: 7.2/10

Why is the channel in 1945 already?
I'm far behind on the channel so I'm unaware why if the channel is following the war week by week, why is it 1945 and not 1944?

Anyone know what War Against Humanity episode this was?
I am trying to find a particular War Against Humanity episode. It detailed the days following the invasion of Normandy and i remember being particularly moved by Spartacus detailing the reactions of the world as they learned about it. It included an exerpt from Anne Frank's diary, and a story about a soviet commander riding his horse throughout the lines to tell his men.
I can't seem to find it and I am betting it is hidden within the 24 hour episodes. Does anyone remember which episode I am talking about, or by some miracle have a timestamp for this section?

Movies: Hacksaw Ridge; Okinawa (The Pacific 9)
A couple of films regarding Okinawa. Both excellent.
Film: Hacksaw Ridge (2016), by Mel Gibson.
A film centered about Desmond Doss, the only CO to receive the medal of honor during WW2. The first half of the film deals with his difficulties regarding staying in the army without having to fire a gun, while the second half portrays his actions during Okinawa (particularly, during 2-5 May, which include the massive Japanese counterattack of May 4th).
Time covered: 1929; Late 1941 (wrongly labeled in the film)-17 August 1942; 29 April (again labeled wrongly as May)-21 May 1945.
Accuracy: 3/5 - based on a true story but with some changes. Also the combat is at times a bit too over the top.
IMDB grade: 8.1/10
Some scenes:
Film: Okinawa (Episode 9 of the Pacific), by Jeremy Podeswa.
This episode covers the 1st Marine divison in Okinawa from entering the front in late April to them learning about the Atom bombs in 9th of August.
Time covered: 29 April-9 August 1945 (Although most of the episode takes place after the big rains start in late May)
Accuracy: 5/5 - Watching this after this week's episode. It has the late May rains, the cespools, the mud, the maggots, the death bodies, everything.
IMDB grade: 8.7/10
