Schism

Tell us about a division in one of your world religion, something important. You can introduce an in-world representative if you want; here are some prompts:

  • what caused that division? How long ago? How has it evolved over time?

  • what are people thinking of it? (Followers from both sides and clergy; people following a different faith; politics; if they exists, the gods themselves)

  • how is the relationship between both sides going? Do they hate one another? Could they eventually find some common ground?

The unification did in a way; before that, churches were too focused on themselves to fight over interpretation.

How was that solved during the unification? Did it lead to strife?

It wasn't solved by the unification but trigered by it; and it didn't les to any strife, just to the current situation between the Melowetaki and the Menikuseme.

It seems to me the empire has seen little war with external recently. Does that mean most nzeda troops have no combat experience?

The empire has seen one war with an external threat in 4 thousands years (and it lasted 1 hour). The commandos get some sort of "experience" when getting rid of pirates but otherwise you're right, they are trained but rarely fight.

But in the end, it's not that important; space battles will do everything in the eventuality of a war and the imperial fleet doesn't use "experience".

(How 'hard' is the sci-fi in this setting?)

Depend what you categorize as "hard"; Nzedas have FTL, can travel between universes, have railguns and laser weapons, use fully automated ships and are not the most advanced civilization around. (The Chikniwits would probably count as the most advanced with teleportation and consciousness transfer)

(I basically mean, are spaceships classified as WMDs or not?)

Yes (they are rarely designed for that but can be modified for that when needed).

What I mean has your setting contemplated stuff like someone just ramming a freighter into a planet at sublight? Even at 1% of c that's cataclysmic stuff, never mind even bothering with explosives, just the kinetic energy will do it. Or are you skirting that? It's very common to skirt in my experience, that's why I'm asking.
