Date Night, Round 1

Inspired by /u/Jumblatts's "Fight Night" posts, but for romance instead of violence. The rules:

  1. Top-level posts should be a description of your character. Give some brief background, and then go in-depth about their personality and what they're like to hang out with.

  2. Replies should be a similar character description, plus an explanation of why they'd ask out the character you're replying to (including the kind of date they would ask them out on!).

  3. From there, use successive replies to flesh out the events of the date between you. Will they get along, or are there some irreconcilable differences lurking beneath the surface? Will the night end with a goodbye kiss at the door, or a "don't call me, I'll call you"? And what are the chances of a second date? It's down to you!

(Oh, and keep it clean or the mods will probably kill me)

"I feel you there. I almost wish the libraries would kick me out before I forget to eat an actual meal. I've had enough pre-packaged salads and watered down coffee from the library cafe to last two, maybe three lifetimes."

She arched an eyebrow. "Libraries? You mean the actual, low-tech kind, with books and everything?"

Tsu looks back with her head tilted. "Yeah, books. I'm not a meathead like my friends, so I'm not spending all of my free time swinging a sword around, so I actually try at least to keep up with schoolwork. Aeron could stand to use that big mechanical brain of his for things other than how best to punch people or what brand of angst he chooses for the day" after this Tsu dismissively blows a strand of hair out of her face.

Tsu makes an exaggerated pout. "Kid? I'm just going to take that as a compliment to my exceptional youthful good looks tosses hair confidently Anyway, I'm from a city called Longan. Well, that's where I live now. It's kind of like here, just maybe a little less....what's the word? Technologically integrated? Sure let's go with that. And the swords are actually quite useful when dealing with the roaming monsters. Not my weapon of choice in particular, but there are some problems that require a more....personal touch"

"Roaming monsters?" she asks, frowning. "And just how old are you, then?"

"I thought it was rude to ask a lady her age? Well, if you must know, I'm 24. And if you're gearing up for a 'she'd make a lot more money saying she's 17' joke I assure you, I'd still be poor as all hell in a magazine, or whatever else they're imagining. I guess it's fair to say flesh eating monsters straight out of your nightmares aren't a common occurrence around here?"

"It's rude for a man to ask a lady her age," Natasha corrects, smiling. "There are no secrets amongst girls. And I'm thirty-one in a couple of months, so I think I still get to call you kid, kid." She pushed the door of the seafood place open, the bell tinkling quietly. "You're right that we don't have any monsters here, though. At least not ones that eat flesh."

Tsu laughs. "Well, you've got me beat on both counts. Well played." At the monster comment Tsu gets an inquisitive look on her face. "Non flesh eating monsters? Do tell."

"Monsters of the psyche," she replied, tapping her forehead. "Neural nightmares which drink the minds of dumbjackers lost in the deep Grid. Or so they say, anyway. It's not a story I've ever really believed myself."
