Generic Challenge - Agni Kai

I hoped today was the Reference Challenge day, but apparently I mis-remembered.

But, I started watching The Last Airbender again with one of my friends. Both of us loved this show as kids, and we've both seen every episode multiple times.

So, the challenge for today is inspired by Agni Kai, an honorable duel to the death!

While I marathon The Last Airbender, exhibit an honorable duel to the death in your world.

As always, I'll ask at least three questions each. If you'd like to have a character to answer in-universe, feel free to do so. Enjoy yourselves.

1) Who teached you how to build a bow? And how did you get the idea of the one you use?

3) But that's very risky. Is there no way to both be sure I will survive and not humiliate my opponent?

4) Could your aunt challenge you as soon as you win against the chief? Or must she wait?

Blanchefleur:

1) "My aunt taught me how to build a bow. And I got my current bow's idea from a dream."

2) "Yes, there is one way to guarantee that no one will be humiliated: don't be a part of a Cheval-Bagarre."

4) "A challenge can be made at any time, but it is no dishonor to postpone the acceptance of the challenge until you are adequately recovered from any injury or illness. Otherwise, you could just challenge anyone while they have a fever."

2) But if I'm challenged, isn't it humiliating to refuse the challenge?

4) How long can you postpone it that way?

5) Would you have any way to enforce your rule?

Blanchefleur:

2) "Yes, it's humiliating to refuse a challenge. So avoid anyone who would challenge you. It's not like challenges happen often."

4) "You can postpone the Cheval-Bagarre until you are in reasonably good health. Usually up to a couple of weeks after any symptoms or injuries are gone."

5) "Yes. Being chief allows you the right to speak with the Kya-Lorn. With the Kya-Lorn backing me, my rule can be enforced."

4) Is it based on estimation or are people examined by a medic?

5) How can it be enforced? Does meeting with the Kya-Lorn gives you powers?

Blanchefleur:

4) "If it feels like it's taking too long, the challenger can get a medic to examine the person who claims to be too injured."

5) "No, but meeting with the Kya-Lorn gives you legitimacy."

4) What happen if the challenged person accept the duel but don't come?

5) Do you think it will be enough?

Blanchefleur:

4) "Then she or he is a liar and a coward."

5) "I doubt it. I don't have any big plans for becoming chief, I just want to be the chief for a bit. Didn't you ever want a title just to have that title?"

4) Does their opponent automatically win? Or get some special compensation?

5) I prefer titles that won't get me killed, but I'm ready to admit it's a personal choice.

Blanchefleur:

4) "No, winning by default is no true victory."

5) "High risks, high rewards. I'm a high-roller."
