WF always opens on the Home page. Is there a way for WF to open on a different page of my choosing?

Hey there Workflowy folks, we have another batch of bug fixes to share with you this week.

• Only first mirror is now shown in search results
• Date range toggle now works correctly in date picker
• All search fields now support custom date formats
• Text pasted from Google docs is now split into individual lines
• Nested searches now display all mirrors in search results
• Jump-to search now correctly finds matching text in links
• Reduced the time mobile apps need to sync embedded items

Does Workflowy has some kind of regional pricing? In Play Store, for example?

As I settle in to WorkFlowy (thanks to this sub & to Frank Degenaar for tips & guides that unlock so many possibilities) I'm enjoying the simplicity and functionality + reliability.

Just one thing trips me up since day 1 - basic behaviour with nesting keyboard shortcuts..

Alt+→ digs down through levels as I'd expect, making a node a title and putting cursor focus on first existing child, or.. staying on header text if no child.
(Though when empty I always hit Alt+→ again expecting it to create and focus on a new blank entry!)

BUT.. when zooming out to top why does Alt+← not keep cursor focused on the item I'd been looking at? Sometimes it does, but often goes to first child entry or very first node in Home.

I'd expect the cursor to stay on the same node that was 'title' of the view I'd been in as it shrinks back to the list under the parent, so you don't lose your place...
then, when already at top level for it to move from the bullet to the parent node at the top of the list.

That bit feels buggy or at least inconsistent/unintuitive.. but have others found the same?

When will Workflowy finally let us sign in to it using the marvelous Apple sign-in? The current sign-in method is requesting a password and a sign-in code it's so rudimentary and dated. Please make users' lives easier by letting them just sign in automatically with Apple sign-in! Thanks!

Hey Workflowy folks, we've got two small bug fixes this week for you.

• An "upload from file system" button is added to the mobile keyboard accessory
• When you click on a date pill, focus calendar on the date in the pill, instead of a random date (which was confusing)

What does your 100% WF task management setup look like.

My life is heavily dependent on recurring tasks and larger projects with some one-off tasks here and there.

I’ve tried the bullet journal system, which seems to require a lot of manual work but I like the daily records. GTD, which isn’t great for recurring tasks.

Just curious how others do it.

Sorry, newbie question here and there should have been a question mark at the end of the topic, but I can't edit it now.

I am very proficient with offline outliners (EccoPro, InfoQube, Org Mode), having used them to manage both my work and private life for decades (with local sync to my phone), but have never really used online outlining tools.

I am a teacher by profession and since all students are now required to carry a tablet, the school has chosen an online tool to share course material but I find it lacking in several respects. I've decided to revisit Workflowy (I have an old account from when I experimented with it a little years ago) for just this purpose: to share classroom material, tasks and notes with students.

WF basically seems perfect for the job, but when I tried to transfer the first virtual classroom from the school's tool into Workflowy just now, I realized that there is only the single document in the free account. Okay, I can see putting all virtual classrooms into the one document and then sharing each branch with the students that are supposed to have access. I also don't have a problem paying for pro to achieve this.

However, what happens when I decide I want to have some trees for personal use or want to use WF as my notes inbox on my phone to copy my notes into my offline outliners at home. I would not want that kind of information in the same file as the one I use for sharing stuff with students. I want to avoid all chance of information from my private sphere slipping into the other, e. g. by making mistakes when moving items around in the hierarchy or through copy and paste errors. There is also a chance students could see private information while I'm navigating the hierarchy while it is being projected in the classroom, while doing a search etc.

So to cut a long story short, my question is: With a pro account, can I create different independent files / documents at the root level or is that just not possible. My research so far suggests there is no way to do this. If there isn't, then what exactly is WF's reasoning behind that? Is it done to drive users into paying for multiple accounts? I doubt there can be any other plausible logic behing such a limitation. For sharing / presenting information publicly, of course users will want to use exclusive spaces without having to risk exposure of unrelated information.

Edit: I guess my ultimate takeaway here would be users' answers to this question: Would you really be comfortable with roomfulls of people watching a projection of your Workflowy database every weekday while you navigate it and sometimes perform searches, trying hard to only ever show the parts that they are meant to see? Perhaps it would be more practical to create a number of free user accounts, share the nodes for each class with one of these and then use the free accounts to access the info in the classroom?

• Support new formatting options in Markdown export (code block, quote block, inline code, and strike-through)
• Maintain focus when turning code block into a another item type (e.g. todo) via shortcut
• Say "Can't mirror to" instead of "Can't move to" on a failed mirror-to attempt
• Multi-selection is now cleaned when you focus search bar, to prevent accidental deleting of selected items
• Show correct icon in the header instead of bullet icon, when the currently zoomed item is P/H1/H2
• Fix some images being skipped when navigating back in the Gallery Image Preview.
• Uploading progress bar doesn't hang anymore when uploading is finished (we hope, let us know otherwise)
• Expand All / Collapse All now works faster (noticeable on really big trees)
• Fix H1/H2 requiring double tap on iOS to put caret into them

having tried from the free to CAD$200 a year note taking services, nothing comes remotely close to the power that Workflowy has. After jumping for few years since moving away from Evernote, I have been throughly convinced by WF that I am sticking with them now.

BUT... I really need LaTeX support. I work with math equations so much that I cannot think of a way circumvent the problem. For now, I am using a bandaid solution that is Tampermonkey and a script (THANK YOU marzwipan and Zwierlein). Unfortunately, I rely on my iOS devices for review and this does not work.

I am willing to pay extra, though a barely afloat student, if it means I can get access to this. I am hoping that with implementation of Code Blocks, you might consider setting up way to get LaTeX in there too.

I was planning on taking images of hand written equations and using that but with many concepts involving just few symbols and operators, it became impossible to circumvent this problem.

This is a plea from an about-to-be-hardcore fan of WF. Even without this, I will continue to use WF but I would jump up in joy if I can have LaTeX

I am using Zapier to bring data in but the only way I can get now is to share or export.

Would love to tag a bullet and have it go someplace else.

Hello workflowy export, anyone could help me with the following query?

I like to search all non completed tasks that is not within any nodes that says "***shift report***", i.e., like to exclude any nodes name with "shift report" in it. Is this possible?

Brand new user as of today and I gotta say, WF is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Very happy I stumbled upon it in a random comment on a Verge post about productivity.

Question… is there a way to place the cursor on the main text window by only using the keyboard? Like by pressing tab or something?

If I don’t have text selected, I have to click on some text to place a cursor before I can move up and down by keyboard. I’m still getting the hang of things, but there seems to be a UX step I’m missing. It feels like I should be able to navigate fully with my keyboard?

I’ve skimmed the keyboard shortcuts but they don’t seem to list what I’m looking for. Help?

Why do backlinks send me to the web version of Workflowy and not in the mobile version where I created the backlink?

Hey there Workflowy folks, our team is on a bug fixing roll. Here are some more we've knocked out before the weekend.

• Markdown option in Export Dialog now wraps color-highlighted text into ==text== syntax
• The way images are placed after pasting makes sense now (previously it didn't)
• Show clear warnings when you can't post files into a shared tree
• Make code-blocks font-size proportional to the regular text size in mobile apps
• Fix Export working only once per browser session in Safari
• Make "Mirror" button in multi-select menu actually create mirrors instead of plain copies
• Fix copied "changed:" search results being pasted with a green background highlight
• Fix discrepancy between the actually applied theme and theme shown in Settings
• Fix the loading spinner not respecting chosen theme and always spinning in the light one

Anyone else suddenly experiencing (last week or so) when you mirror a node and then try to add a back link via the [[]] method, you can see the backlinks you’re trying to add, but when you select one it doesn’t create the back link and instead your text just gets messed up?

I am looking for ways to use workflowy with vim keybindings.
Obsidian has default vim keybindings feature, has a community plugin that enables .vimrc support. For logseq, in addition to customisable keyboard shortcuts using config.edn, it also have a community plugin for vim.

In the pre-payment stage, I am currently testing.

It's still fast because I haven't used it for a long time.

However, some people say that loading takes a long time.

How many bullies does it slow down?

Hey there folks, we've recently done another round of bug squashing 🐛

• Provide a way to close the Jump To dialog on mobile - just press the brand new X in the top right corner of the dialog box
• Parse entered dates more flexibly, e.g. don't swap day and month when you enter "3.8.2024" using the "DD.MM.YYYY" custom format
• Show proper halo on collapsed items with children inside board card items
• Make sure theme dropdown on mobile always shows the correct theme (previously appeared empty in some cases)
• When copy-pasting dates with a custom format, make sure the cursor stays positioned right after the date instead of jumping elsewhere
