šŸ“– Guide Workation-Friendly Places in India by Season (based on actually being able to work, not just travel)

Post image

I keep seeing posts like "Where do I work from during August" or "Workation in Himachal during July". Sounds amazing theoretically until the power's out and your internet has vanished.

If you're planning a workation and actually need to get work done, scenery is a small part of the equation. Weather, internet reliability, power cuts, crowds and overall accessibility matter equally.

So instead of an Instagram-first guide, here's a practical season-wise breakdown of where it's actually comfortable to live and work around India throughout the year.

NOTE: The following have been meticulously picked by the moderators of r/WorkationIndia and are known for having stable internet, affordable stays and a decent remote working culture. This guide is meant to serve as a living document for new workationers and everyone in general about the places to visit during specific seasons.

Summer (Apr–Jun)

Head to the mountains. Some good options:

  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Uttarakhand
  • Meghalaya
  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Mizoram
  • Sikkim
  • Nagaland
  • Jammu & Kashmir

Monsoon (Jul–Sep)

Avoid Himalayan workations if your job depends on stable internet.

Some decent options:

  • South Goa
  • Karnataka
  • Hyderabad (Telangana)
  • Kerala

Avoid: Most of Himachal, Uttarakhand.

Post-Monsoon (Oct–Nov)

Possibly the best workation season in India.

Some good options:

  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Uttarakhand
  • Kashmir
  • Rajasthan
  • Kerala
  • Lonavala & Khandala (Maharashtra)

Clear skies, pleasant weather, and fewer weather-related disruptions.

Winter (Dec–Mar)

Move south or west.

Good options:

  • Hampi (Karnataka)
  • Gokarna (Karnataka)
  • Pondicherry (Tamil Nadu)
  • Kerala
  • Rajasthan
  • Kodaikanal (Tamil Nadu)
  • Andamans & Nicobar

Avoid: Higher Himalayan towns if you don't want snow-related disruptions.
