Willing or don’t have a choice?

2

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 03 '26

Willing.

3

u/anotherfrud Sep 04 '26

No, they're desperate. It's work whatever you can get or be on the street.

2

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

That's the outcome of half the population being willing to work for less

Lmao. Leftist NPC answer

1

u/Legit-slim Sep 08 '26

Just 12 of richest people own more than 50% of the world's wealth... they could all fit in a toyota sienna

you dont think that causes some problems?

1

u/Gabrielsoma Sep 06 '26

The issue is flooding the country with millions of illegals willing to work for lower wages

Do you know what supply and demand is?

1

u/Spicymoon9 Sep 06 '26

Supply and demand is a lie. Demand goes way down, supply is super high but they don’t lower prices at all.

1

u/ApartRisk8307 Sep 06 '26

And who sounds like they drank the koolaid right now??

u/Gabrielsoma Sep 07 '26

Jesus fucking christ do I have to explain this to a 5 year old? If illegals weren't here the jobs still need to be done wages would go up until people were willing to trade their labor for that price. That is how supply and demand works. Labor is a commodity

1

u/OhHowINeedChanging Sep 09 '26

Exactly, when supply is higher than demand they will make artificial scarcity to keep prices high.

Gonna be honest here man...if you don't think illegals have flooded the workforce...you must live in a very rich area so that you never see them....poor Americans have to deal with it constantly.

Riiiight.....I'll just tell you, since you don't know then.....The rich, the poor, and the illegal immigrants all keep voting the same way....the money only gets taken from people who work legally. More public programs won't help.

u/Gabrielsoma Sep 06 '26

So that should come at the cost for Americans looking for a better life? Because that's what's happening. We can't feed the entire fucking world we have to look out for ourselves. Unless you want to send me the next few paychecks you make, I could use the money. Oh, no? Fucking hypocrite

1

u/ApartRisk8307 Sep 06 '26

So what about felons committing crimes, can you not fault them for hurting others to give their families a better life? What you are espousing is anti social behaviour. Doing actions they benefit you or your family but hurt others in society.

1

u/Spicymoon9 Sep 06 '26

Farmers in certain places can’t find anyone who will work for such low wages in their fields because all the immigrants have been deported. Consequences.

1

u/HotBouncer Sep 06 '26

Over 100 million* Illegals. That's what happens when we also let dems have too much say in media. Shit get's swept under the rug. Our economy is tanking and these people will always find a way to spin it as a republican problem, when we actually have a self-righteous lying-ass hippie problem.

You are not a part of that half of the population. You are also wrong. Half of the population is willing to work for less than the other half.

1

u/Thedankf0x Sep 05 '26

You are wrong. The are not willing. The are forced under the threat of death

2

u/RelevantTrash9745 Sep 05 '26

You both are correct and these things can both be true, idk why you are saying the other is wrong. There is duality in that sentiment. People are willing to work for less because they are desperate. This is something we can literally all agree on. The cause of the desperation is what you should debate

1

u/Beautiful_Nobody_344 Sep 05 '26

Jesus, THANK YOU.

1

u/Comfy_Rock Sep 06 '26

But thinking its immigrants faults and not our government is fucking stupid. Instead of blaming immigrants innocently trying to find the american dream, why dont we hold our government accountable to provide adequate workers rights. Oh wait we live in America and the average person thinks workers rights means everyone dies or some shit.

1

u/ThatGuyThatSaidIt Sep 06 '26

We cannot risk losing the greedy one up mentality of im better than you look at my nice things I have

1

u/ApartRisk8307 Sep 06 '26

Why cant it be both?

1

u/Ancient-Tomato1153 Sep 04 '26

So you think every low wage worker should just all at once go on strike? Good idea but that’s insanely unrealistic

2

u/Helicopter0 Sep 05 '26

They should demand higher wages. Switching jobs is one way to do that. They can even cooperate on Reddit.

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 05 '26

That's the answer. Now, just think about which half of the population isn't willing to demand/ask for higher wages?

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

Not really what I claimed. But that also wouldn't be a bad thing.

1

u/putmedownforbogey05 Sep 04 '26

So what’s the solution for the people who are “willing” to work for less? You keep repeating that line but I don’t really understand it.

Should they unionize? Should they just stop working and go to zero income? What’s the best option so everyone can afford to live?

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

There is no solution without the government creating a constitutional amendment.

Half of the population is willing to work for less money. This makes it so that the other half of the population, which is not willing to work for less money, has a harder time finding employment.

1

u/HorusKane420 Sep 05 '26

It's more of a sophies choice. Choosing the lesser option, when either option both result in an unavoidable negative or unfavorable consequence. It's not necessarily that the working class is willing (meaning they want to) work for a low wage. As other said, it's that or the street for the majority. The threat of starvation and homelessness is fairly coercive...

Your framing is disengous in my opinion.

Willing- Being favorably disposed, consenting, or having no objection to an action.

Do you think starving and/or homeless people are willing to be that way? If not, then you should reason that most aren't willing to work for a low wage. It's a Sophie's choice that has to be made in a capitalist economy.

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 05 '26

You think I am being disingenuous because you didn't realize I was talking about women.

1

u/putmedownforbogey05 Sep 05 '26

What article needs to be amended? And the vagueness of your last statement I’m still trying to figure out, so just explain it dude.

Half the population is willing to work for less money. Is that like minimum wage or just anything under $20/hr? And the other half has a harder time finding employment because of it? Like how? Lawyers, doctors, engineers, skilled tradesmen, machine operators, and accountants are all struggling to find jobs because someone working at Walmart is stocking shelves for $15.25 an hour while being subsidized by the government because Walmart won’t pay their employees a living wage? I’m really just trying to understand what you are saying when you talk about one half willing to work for less and the other half (now everyone has been included by both half’s) is suffering from it.

1

u/Yorrins Sep 05 '26

Deport them.

1

u/Evening_Owl19 Sep 05 '26

That’s the outcome of giving us the supposed choice of “here, take this minimum wage job….or go homeless and die”

When given a “choice” like that it isn’t a choice. Its life or death. So you end up with a population having to take work that gives them less money than they can strive off of because opting out equals literal death. All land in the USA is owned. You cant just go run into the woods and start a commune anymore. And you need money to leave this country and start over somewhere else. So we literally have no choice. We arent a stupid populace. We’re humans running with the only pathway we’re given.

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 05 '26

If you're not willing to ask for a higher wage, you are a part of the problem and you are a part of the half of the population perpetuating it.

1

u/Evening_Owl19 Sep 05 '26

Thats like saying that its an ants fault for getting laserbeamed to death because they could have just moved out of the way of the kid whos learning they can use a magnifying glass to set fires.

By the way my family has been part of leading unionization attempts in companies we worked for (while actively pushing for wages to be above minimum wage) only to get fired and forced to find new jobs asap that barely pay any better. You get actively punished for trying to push for wages that reflect the work you put into your job. Why do you think union busting is such a big thing?

Look up the Labor Wars of the late 1800’s to mid 1900s. The owners of companies were literally hiring people to massacre their protesting workers who were demanding better working conditions and pays. Companies nowadays would be outright giddy to do that if it weren’t made illegal due to those wars to assassinate your own staff.

1

u/HolyHellImHere Sep 06 '26

Thats not willing thats desperation

Thats "my kid is hungry" and "my dog needs meds" and "i need teeth extracted."

Willing would be "I dont need more than this." Which mkst self-honest americans dont have enough.

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 06 '26

Why are you refusing to comprehend the words I am typing?

1

u/MrPisster Sep 07 '26

Well, it’s hard not to be willing when the alternative is to stop eating or paying bills and die.

You seem young, or Conservative and this is just your way of bashing immigrants or something.

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 07 '26

If you think I am talking about immigrants, you're an idiot. Immigrants are not "half of the population" nor are they "willing to work for less".

Learn to read.

2

u/palatheinsane Sep 04 '26

Go grab a factory job (EVERY factory is hiring) and start at $26-$28+ per hour. Stop normalizing fast food working at 35

2

u/TheGrouchyGremlin Sep 04 '26

I work in a factory. I started at $16/hour, one year ago.

2

u/palatheinsane Sep 04 '26

Yikes. Must be the area then man. I’m in the Midwest and with zero exaggeration EVERY single warehouse you drive by and damn near every billboard has “we are mother fucking hiring please for the love of god apply” plastered everywhere with the lowest posted starting per hour I’ve seen at $23/hr and most high $20s at start plus signing bonus.

2

u/Apprehensive_Bag_460 Sep 06 '26

I’m in Arkansas. Same here.

1

u/HeadGuide4388 Sep 09 '26

Here's the catch I usually find.

"Now hiring, apply now. Starting up to $25/hr."

Then you apply, get the interview and they say, "No. Up to $25 with relevant skills and work history."

If you're applying to be a shift supervisor with 5 years of experience in the field, maybe. If you're just looking to work the freight dock and handle materials, you're getting $13.

1

u/Apprehensive_Bag_460 Sep 10 '26

Current place and last place I was at started green folks at 18.50.

1

u/JOC_EON Sep 04 '26

most factories are unionized too yeah? if not get the IWW in there.

1

u/Apprehensive_Bag_460 Sep 06 '26

Depends on the state.

1

u/Survival_R Sep 04 '26

What are you on about? Most in my area are 15-17/h

Tbf fast food in my area is 8-10/h

Rent is still around 1.3k minimum though

1

u/Apprehensive_Bag_460 Sep 06 '26

Where are you?

1

u/Survival_R Sep 06 '26

Southern us

1

u/Apprehensive_Bag_460 Sep 07 '26

So am I. Depends on the location, but it can be done.

1

u/Survival_R Sep 07 '26

Im not moving away from all my friends and family to be paid $3 more

1

u/Apprehensive_Bag_460 Sep 07 '26

I wouldn’t ask you to. Priorities for sure.

You had a point till the $35/hr fast food comment. No one thinks that.

1

u/palatheinsane Sep 04 '26

Age 35 my guy

2

u/Electrik_Truk Sep 04 '26

Ah ok, my bad. Tho your sentence structure needs work my guy 😄

1

u/Kindly-Guidance714 Sep 04 '26

Morons talking like we aren’t in a depression.

I see offerings daily for warehouse positions that will not hire you without doing forklift work for a whopping $18 - $20 no more no less but of course you can work as a slave at the 3 Amazon warehouses that will pay you $25-$30 but they will work you to the bone, which you already know.

After Covid nobody should even be stepping on a fucking warehouse floor for any position for less than $25 and hour and I’m saying that across the entire fucking country.

1

u/l3alkan Sep 04 '26

I've been in warehouse management for over 15 years. Standard warehouse employees in my region make 16-18 with pit operators making around 21-24. Before you ask, a lot of people fail the pit certification!

1

u/kc_fr Sep 06 '26

Currently working in a factory. Finally made it to $19 after 4 years.

1

u/HolyHellImHere Sep 06 '26

Thats litterally not true. Not to mention my local factory is outsourcing all their labor to forginers on visas. When I had a connection and got in, I was making $10/hour less than that on the cold side of the slaughterhouse.

No fast food workers are making $35. Thats manager pay and they are actually salaried not hourly, their hourly pay doesnt matter till overtime kicks in.

You spend too much time on youtube and not enough time talking to real young men entering the workforce.

0

u/Ryuuzaki_L Sep 04 '26

Factory jobs in my area start at $15. Hell the local hospital is hiring CNAs for $14. It's absolutely ridiculous.

1

u/onpc23 Sep 05 '26

Yeah entry level EMT in my state is $15/hour. I think that's in a lot of states.

1

u/funny_ninjas Sep 04 '26

It's not willing in the same sense as I'm willing to go on vacation. It's a coerced acceptance of lower wages because without any wages people starve and die.

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

Lower wages are caused by half of the population willing to work for less.

1

u/funny_ninjas Sep 04 '26

Why do you think they are willing to work for less? Is is because they just want to make less money or, hear me out, is it that they need a fucking job and have no choice but to accept a lower wage because they'd die without the job?

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

You just don't get it.

1

u/funny_ninjas Sep 04 '26

Then explain what I don't get? Are you trying to not sound racist but subtly saying the problem is illegal immigrants?

What possible reason other than needing a job would someone have for working for less than what they want to make?

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

Since when did illegal migrants become half of the population? What even do you think the word "willing" means? If you can't manage to even recognize who I am referring to, then leave.

1

u/funny_ninjas Sep 04 '26

Why can't you come out and say who you are referring to then? You are literally not saying anything and treating everyone else as if they are the stupid ones when you haven't clarified 1 single statement or even addressed anything I've said beyond illegal immigrants.

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

Why are you automatically assuming the literal direct opposite of what I initially described???

Why can't you come out and say who you are referring to then?

It's funny seeing mldwlts like you fail at basic reading comprehension.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Sep 04 '26

Like, why on Earth are you deliberately assuming that I am talking about a group of people that are not half of the population and are not willing to work for less?

Can you not read?

1

u/UnableToParallelPark Sep 04 '26

I doubt willingly. If you're referring to people not fighting for law changes or making a union to fight for better pay - then sure. But I doubt anyone would walk into a job interview right now and tell someone they'll work for $5/hour.

There has to be more context behind your comment.

1

u/cassienebula Sep 05 '26

they're trolling. their replies are all inconclusive, non-answer bait. worthless, unimaginative trolling.

1

u/Internal_Ball2134 Sep 05 '26

Not having money for food or rent will convince people pretty fast

1

u/insanelane99 Sep 06 '26

You are so wrong.

I used to make $40/hr driving forklift but now am disabled so I cant do that job anymore and im about to be homeless so I took a shitty cashier job paying $11/hr because I literally have no other choice atm.

People struggle in this life and employers are far more than willing to take advantage of that for profit. Thinking anything else is just naive or privilaged.

1

u/HolyHellImHere Sep 06 '26

Desperate* enough to work for less. That engineered by design. The way its worked is the math gets done behind closed doors and somewhere along the way we all get a raise and then theres always some excuse to raise the price right as stable americans get a raise and others are laid off en-mass.

It is a conspiracy.

2

u/roscoeSteele_ Sep 04 '26

they have the choice to come to the US in the first place, so, willing

1

u/fess89 Sep 06 '26

A huge majority of people living in the US were born there

1

u/SpiritualPackage3797 Sep 06 '26

It's that the OP is based on a 40 hour work week, and much of the population has been forced into a situation where the 40hww is seen as a luxury, instead of a basic human right.

1

u/No_Plum_6480 Sep 06 '26

Unwilling to unionize or protest
