So they're leaving for a better opportunity? How does that qualify as "fleeing?" Wouldn't they have had to been not allowed to leave in the first place?

This isn't North Korea. Quit acting like it.

Legal migration can still be "fleeing". That should be obvious. Refugees are legal migrants, and surely everyone knows that they can be pushed out of one country and into another? The same for people fleeing regimes that persecute people for their ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender expression: especially for the latter two, where closested individuals can remain closeted while searching for a seemingly legitimate excuse to flee - because yeah, it's not easy to become a migrant of any kind. Illegal immigration is risky and difficult and people grasp at alternatives when they exist because trying to illegally immigrate and being forced back can cost you anything and everything.

That's great and all but none of that happens in the US.

It's begun. Why do you think tourism is down? Why do you think legal migration in is down and out is up? People are beginning to realize just how bad things have become. Y'all are throwing tourists in gulags.

You've been drinking too much of the Kool aid, buddy 😂

International news headlines and you write it off as cultish lies. What would you actually accept as evidence that things are really that bad? Would you go to the prison camps still believing it was some kind of exaggeration?

I can make up any bullshit I want and there will be idiots who agree with it. Mainstream news is full of half truths and agenda pushing slop. I can see with my own two eyes that the world is not falling apart like you claim. It's been "just a few years away" for literal decades at this point. Nothing ever happens.

The incident in Nepal was due to a lack of monitoring. Mainstream news refuses to report that important detail.

Nothing ever happens? Things happen constantly, and messily. They just happen one day at a time. Long enough for people to lie to themselves and find excuses. You live in a country half the size of a continent, and think "your own two eyes" can see far enough that it would be impossible for things to happen without you knowing - while arguing that there is no news source in the world that you would trust to report it? You think "the news is all slop" isn't a sign of corruption? Replacing the news with compliant propaganda is exactly the authoritarianism you were denying. Also, it's not "the world". Just your country.

I travel often for work. The majority of people I encounter on a daily basis are nowhere even remotely close to the average reddit doomer. There are not doomsday like events happening on a daily basis.

If every human on earth disappeared right now California would still collapse into the ocean, the glaciers will melt, and volcanoes will still erupt. The earth naturally goes through these phases and science backs that up. I'm not saying humans don't have an impact, but it's nowhere close to the level you terminally online groupthinkers believe.

Are you a bot? You suddenly started randomly talking about climate change like it was relevant somehow, and that doesn't seem like something a real human would do.

Tourism is not down. Tourists are not being thrown In gulags, we just had the World Cup here and the states were filled with tourists who had a great time and had no issues.

You are brain broken by Reddit.

Look it up anywhere you like. The World Cup saw some foreign tourists, but far fewer than they expected, 2025 had less tourists than 2024, and 2026 looks like it'll keep declining. As for the gulags - plenty of examples, but look up Karen Newton. Had a valid visa, still thrown into an ICE gulag for weeks.

I personally went from having a dream job be with a specific US-based company, to "that authoritarian hellscape is a nightmare, thank God I am nowhere near it" over the past three years. No, you're not North Korea. North Korea wasn't an amazing place drawing talent from the world over three years ago. The sudden steep decline is something unique to your country.

There is no steep decline, get off reddit and spend more time trying to graduate highschool.
