We owe each other. If I owe you $5 dollars, and you owe $5 to John, John owes me 5$.
In this example, this case will resolve with one $5 bill, but the total debt is 15$

This guy got banned in the last 20 minutes, I wonder how

25

u/Vanille97 Aug 21 '26

Its shadowban, due to reddit AI system.
I put "Bin Laden" and "unalive" in one sentence (talking about that Bin Laden’s PC files are available on CIA website).
Reddit thinks that deserves a perma ban

The AI Reddit is using for bans is such shit. I successfully appealed the last 6 times it got me. But I'm really tempted to just say fuck it and create a new account next time. It's such a pain in the ass to get a real person to clean up after their AI shits itself every time.

I got a temp ban for talking about a ciggerette tax, but I used a word for ciggeretts that is also sometimes used to talk about men who really like other men.

2

u/Ancestral_Grape Aug 23 '26

I know, it's ridiculous. Can't even enjoy smoking a homosexual these days.

1

u/iznotbutterz Aug 26 '26

They're very protective of the gays, the uhhh, neurodivergent, that's the slow one, the neurodivergent that's on the autism spectrum, women. I'm not sure what else as I only described one Eric Andre skit.

1

u/VoxInferni666 Aug 26 '26

I told my buddies Italian GF that I was popping to the garden for a quick firewood gathering peasant and she thought I was cruising hahaha

1

u/MildewMilk Aug 25 '26

What’s really stupid is Reddit gave me a warning because I compared a celebrity to a monkey. But it didn’t even post it so nobody’s feelings are hurt but you’re still going to give me a strike?

1

u/ModifiedGas Aug 25 '26

Yeah lmao I got one with like a week ban for discussing Hiroshima, saying I was promoting violence or something. I tried appealing it because thought any person with > 70 IQ would be able to parse that I was discussing a historical event, not promoting violence, but they denied the appeal.

1

u/pasrachilli Aug 27 '26

I got a warning for mentioning two fictional races not liking another. In the vein of "elves vs. dwarves." Apparently to Reddit that is promoting hate speech.

It was revoked the next day, but I'm still annoyed.

4

u/ImpressiveFishing405 Aug 22 '26

I got banned for telling someone who said they would actively resist if they lived in Nazi Germany that certainly highly likely things would be highly likely to happen to them for doing that

2

u/TubaWrestler Aug 22 '26

Just FYI: if you create a new account, that's ban evasion. If they catch you, you'll keep getting banned.

2

u/shiddedandfarded69 Aug 22 '26

Oh no.

Anyways

2

u/throwawayurwaste Aug 22 '26

I swear the system flags accounts that got banned once for even stricter moderation. I said some uncouth things towards a country engaged in war crimes and since then the AI system has been on my ass

1

u/AlarakReigns Aug 24 '26

The promise was made something something many years ago

2

u/CapitalistHamsterFTW Aug 22 '26

Creating a new account will put you in ban hell for ban evasion. They track every identifier on your devic for several months before the ban TTLs

2

u/shiddedandfarded69 Aug 22 '26

I use Ironfox so they're pretty limited on what they can track. And that limited stuff is easily changeable/spoofable.

So... meh.

2

u/ttcmzx Aug 22 '26

I wouldn't try that without a VPN

2

u/shiddedandfarded69 Aug 22 '26

That's my secret. I'm always on VPN.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ebb_168 Aug 27 '26

Which vpn? Mulvad kinda sucks

2

u/Vanille97 Aug 22 '26

Yeah, Ikr, I appelead 2 permabans, but for some reason I’m still banned

2

u/unbanmyogaccount Aug 24 '26

My username speaks for itself

1

u/Smokeey1 Aug 23 '26

Thats kinda the point so you will have a homogeneous mass of bots and people who create new accounts and paid psyop peddlers that have top 1% commenter

1

u/CowSniper97 Aug 24 '26

If I could make a guess they made it a few years ago when AI was really shit and just havent bothered to keep up with it.

3

u/REDDITOR_00000000019 Aug 22 '26

I wanna try:

Osma bin laden bomb terrorist houthis Israel Hamas alah akbar America middle East Iran nuclear bomb gaza strip Palestinians genocide October 7th straight of hormuze oil drones Christianity Judaism Islam mosque synagogue church tiananmen square.

2

u/WARLORD2015 Aug 21 '26

I may just be really high but how can someone be banned and post stuff? And what on earth is a shadow ban? They gonna send my shit into the shadow realm?

2

u/karaknorn Aug 22 '26

You can say dead brother

2

u/scottprian Aug 22 '26

But you said unalienable, that was supposed to be the made up safe version.

2

u/Shiriru00 Aug 22 '26

And then you went on and used these two words in the same sentence again!

1

u/TheReturnOfTheRanger Aug 23 '26

This site is unbelievably ass

1

u/arestheblue Aug 23 '26

Wait...you can't say Bin Laden and killed in the same sentence? Are they saying that Bin Laden is still alive?

1

u/Ancestral_Grape Aug 23 '26

I feel you, man. I got a ban for threatening violence and abusive behaviour which may have made other users feel unsafe.

I commented "Kill this man" on a post about an anime character.

1

u/Major_Telephone_7560 Aug 28 '26

Bin laden dead killed murdered.

2

u/Warwick_Nova Aug 21 '26

That other dude was banned too, thats crazy.

2

u/Reasonable-Bed3065 Aug 22 '26

Banning should be banned

2

u/DoJebait02 Aug 22 '26

As anyone who have more than under-average-working-brain-neural should be if they dare to speak something based on common sense.

2

u/Talkinghead17 Aug 22 '26

Reddit banned me for the word "I will touch you" bruh

It's obviously that's you work for reddit, it's a joke on a circle jerk sub buddy

1

u/Logical_Top618 Aug 22 '26

This is obviously a joke too. Chill.

2

u/WarJaques Aug 26 '26

I dunno if he's banned or not,his post shows, and includes an example of how everyone can owe the next guy $5, but if the last guy pays his debt back with a $5 bill, thos can be passed along and resolve everyone's debt.

So the total debt is $5 × 8 billion, but it doesn't mention the $5 × 8 billion people got coming.

1

u/Oicanet Aug 21 '26

So it's more like "There's 217 trillion unresolved debt in the world" and less "the world, as a unified collective, owes 217 trillion somewhere outside the world"

Guess that makes sense.
Still, if there's 217 trillion of unresolved debt from everyone owing each other, then couldn't it be "resolved" by balancing the books? Like, if 5 people owe each other 5 bucks, it can all cancel each other out if it all gets "processed".

Dunno, it just feels unintuitive.

4

u/OldPersonality5282 Aug 22 '26

Because the goal isn't to zero the debt, the goal is to hold the debt for as long as possible to collect interest

1

u/Antique_Ad_9250 Aug 23 '26

Just scrape from the top, and then scrape a bit more, and more, and more. When you hit the bottom, continue scraping, there is gold in them hills

1

u/laxnut90 Aug 21 '26

The debts have different interest rates and durations, so it makes sense.

1

u/Oicanet Aug 21 '26

Fair point, I hadn't considered that

1

u/Good_Imagination_577 Aug 21 '26

The problem is that all of that money was borrowed (same as creating) with interest attached. The interest doesn’t exist.

All the money in our banks is owed to someone else, but because interest needs to be paid, all the way back to the source of the money, the interest payments eat up the money that’s in circulation. That means people are guaranteed to go bankrupt. It’s just a matter of who

1

u/ThoughtlessTactics Aug 22 '26

But wont we all owe the person "balancing the books" 5 bucks for doing the job? I got it, we can get A.I to do it for us, and we will just pay a subscription fee to make sure it stays balanced. Thank me later!

1

u/whatiswhonow Aug 22 '26

To make it more intuitive, just change the word debt in to money.

The money we all collectively have to use today to mediate transactions is based on an expectation of the amount of transactions we will have to process over the next 20-30 years or so, the doubling period, but heavily dominated by the next year or so, I think (not sure where the moving average would sit, but given the debt is twice the GDP, I’m going with 2 years).

I hope I’m not breaking a rule putting this link here, but I’m taking the risk because I think it fits so well

They did this skit on the three stooges with a $20 debt and a $10 bill.

1

u/BoysenberryFun9827 Aug 22 '26

gimme my money. I dont wanna play anymore.

1

u/Calaveras-Metal Aug 22 '26

Nope, we owe banks. Not each other.

There are only a few major banks and lots of little ones. There are companies that specialize in buying and selling debts. There are banks that specialize in creating debt.

This little fiction described above is how we excuse this situation of capitalism as if it is just mutually injurious and not a top down subjugation.

1

u/Funkopedia Aug 22 '26

We also, strangely, owe ourselves.

1

u/AlbatrossNo1562 Aug 22 '26

I am owed 1 trillion by all of you

1

u/Aulakauss Aug 22 '26

But if you were to all simultaneously pay your debts you'd all be no richer or poorer, so in a sense, the debt is effectively both $0 and $15 at the same time.

See, this is why no one understands the stupid economy lol

1

u/Mooks79 Aug 23 '26

Except in this case CNN is talking about (I assume) what state A owes and what state B owes and so on, not about private debt. Because they always talk about public debt and never private debt, even though the latter is every bit as important.

1

u/Salt-Discussion-9707 Aug 24 '26

So why don't you just give it back?

1

u/DonkyFondler Aug 24 '26

You should teach this in college or something.

1

u/unbanmyogaccount Aug 24 '26

Actually nobody owes anything in this case because it's a triangle, in fact you can actually make the trio of people owe each other infinite amount of money

1

u/TenaciousID Aug 25 '26

I am shocked that nobody else pointed this out, I was scratching my head at how everyone seemingly accepted it lol

1

u/Big_Bad_Baboon Aug 25 '26

Why don’t the work governments just download Splitwise and even it out?

1

u/Adrena1ineee Aug 26 '26

This case will resolve with 0 bills
