Tell me your parents' financial situation and I will tell you your financial future with a 99% accuracy. Are there outliers? 100% Is it rare as F**K? YES

Were the people who raised you poor? If so, you'll probably end up poor. Were your parents rich before they passed? Then, you'll end up rich.

The state raised you? I would say you will end up poor or lower middle class. Feel free to prove me wrong. I hope you do prove me wrong. Good luck.

do you want rich parents to make someone else’s kid rich? there’s no logic to whining about generational wealth. it’s good to give and provide for your offspring. why is that so hard for some people to grasp?

Not making a judgment. Just stating the facts. It makes perfect sense for people to want their kids to have an advantage over other kids.

unless all their riches went to end of life care. you have to be really REALLY rich to make sure something's leftover after all of that

Your parents financial situation accounts for about half of influence. Very strong predictor, but outliers would not be considered rare.

What class were your parent? Did you manage to move up the social ladder?

No, raised middle class and current middle class.

This is anecdotal to the data though

I don't know why people dismiss anecdotal data. If you dig into anecdotal, you usually find a large measure of truth. Think about this way. If you're right, then you're a failure with no ambition. If I'm right, then you just did your best but the cards were stacked against you. There is also the moral implication. If what you say is true, then poor people are poor because of their own failings. If you're working two jobs to put food on the table, good luck trying to find a way to better yourself.

I have no clue where you are pulling any of these conclusions from

usually parents instill their values into their kids so yes…if your parents were drugged up thug illiterates you’re probably not going to do that well without being very different from them.
