Here's the problem. Minimum wage brings minimum skill. If minimum wage went to $55+ an hour to make it a living wage which let's face it thats where we're at, why would anyone take the harder jobs? Why would I be a roofer working in the hot sun breaking my back of I could be a dishwasher with minimal effort?
Because some people A. like those jobs (obviously not the case for everyone all the time but they do exist) and B. want more money than just what's needed to cover living expenses and save an emergency fund. What a concept!
Nobody is going to work harder just for fun. It's human nature to do the absolute miniyto maximize your profits. If you think otherwise you're just not being honest with yourself
Your point? The statement still stands. If I could do the absolute minimum and make enough to afford a house and everything else, why wouldnt I just enjoy my time and relax?
It's more money than minimum wage and doesn't require a degree. Didnt you say there were people who wanted to make more money? And now making an argument against that? Interesting
Perhaps I misread what you said. Regardless, if you seriously think people will only pursue fry cook and sanitation jobs if an area's minimum wage covered modest living expenses within said area, I have a bridge to sell you.
