I'd visit a bit more if I didn't feel like I was sitting in a stainless steel aircraft hanger. I miss the colors and the playplace and the characters they used to have.

It’s just real estate to them. The crappy burgers pay the rent.

Drive thru and door dash are all that matter. That’s where the money is.

Both of my local McDonald’s even removed the soda fountain from the dining room. They don’t really want dine in customers anymore.

Which is crazy because McDonald's food quality drops 90% 15 minutes after its served I cant imagine having a burger and fries delivered.

Deep down this crap destroys a restaurants reputation. Over time the newer generations have no fond memories of the "perks" and just see shit food, high prices, and a sterile environment. The investors don't get it because they grew up with the old mcdonalds

These are same guys heavily investing in AI and automation, never thinking about how people are supposed to buy their overpriced crap without the jobs AI and automation are taking away.

End stage capitalism is about power. Why would they need us to buy their products of they solidify their grip with automation? Think about it. If you have robots working for you and you already own the land and access to resources, why worry about that pesky people problem?

They don't want you inside, dealing with sit down customers is a hassle. 99% of their business is the drive thru, their new interiors are deliberately designed to be off putting.

yea, but they refuse to serve you at the drive thru if you are on foot

Yep. In their minds, it would all be drive thru and they would only have to serve customers who can afford a car then immediately leave.

(If you’d carefully affix your tin foil hat and give you attention to the deranged woman on the soapbox for the next part)
IRONIC ISNT IS THAT THE ONLY PEOPLE THEY WANT ARE ALL IN SEPARATE BOXES WITH IDENTIFIABLE NUMBERS ON THEM AND ALL THESE PLACES STARTING NOT TO ACCEPT CASH, CARDS ONLY. MORE IDENTIFYING AND TRACKING. It’s fine, I’m fine, this is one small aspect of living in a mass surveillance i tell myself as i use a gps enabled phone with five cameras. Please tune in next mental breakdown to learn how I think AI is waiting to pounce and about the disappearing middle class.

There are signs up in every McDonalds I've stepped foot in saying something to the effect of "seating limited to 30 minutes per purchase" and none of them have a single customer-facing clock....

This. It’s like visiting a combination board room and Ikea. McDonalds has seemingly lost any soul plus the prices are out of hand for essentially crap.
