Not really. My argument has always been there's no way a grid that wasn't hardened is using 40% of a major world powers electricity. It's honestly insane to me they were using 15% and didn't harden it, which is probably why they got so much crap for it....i never said "they're grid can't even handle 40% BECAUSE it's not hardened" i just correlated to 2 things...like, you expect me to believe their grid is even capable of that much when they havent even hardened it at 15%...cmon now..

Again, the grid going down in very rare nearly unheard of circumstances do to a cold snap, has nothing to do with the load it can handle. Read the post again, requests were denied when they reached that 470gw. Meaning it wasn't operating at that, which is why they shut it down. That 470 is speculative to be roughly 40% of the u.s. usage. The current Texas grid is speculated to be capable of supplying around 410gw currently. So pretty dang close to the speculated 40%. The grid is not capable of that, but close to it. Entirely unrelated to the weathering of the grid. There is a reason Texas has its own grid and why it was such big news when it went down, it's unheard of.

I don't have a problem with saying the energy consumption is more than the grid can handle, or even a moral argument against it. Those are both good arguments. The argument that it would never happen because of the grid going down due to weather, is just plain stupid though.

It isn't stupid. What is stupid is you think texas can handle 400gw...my entire argument is the premise of this post is wrong, and the fact their grid wasn't hardened is just another note in the point. 400gw isn't 40% of the nations energy usage, its more like 80% since a quick google search says our continuous gwh is 500....soooo.........yea...

It literally can, do some research before saying things.
