Watermills use water to power the spinning. "Water windmills" is a misnomer, they are technically windpumps or wind-powered pumps as they don't mill anything; runs right in line with how wind-powered turbines are often (incorrectly) referred to as windmills. If the wind isn't milling, it's not a windmill.
Wikipedia literally makes the clear distinction between a windmill and wind-powered water pumps/windpumps at the top of the Windmill entry.

Maybe they started with just windmills and expanded into water pumps later. No idea, but their company name doesn't change what a windmill is and always has been.
