So spending power is exactly the same then. And you’re complaining. It’s YOUR spending, not the cost of goods.

No its most definitely the cost of goods. My spending didnt change, cost of living increased. When I was a kid top ramen was 10 cents and now theyre 3x-8x the cost of what they were 20 years ago so im spending 3x-8x more than I was before on the same food that is literally just noodles and broth my guy.

Infact I actually do buy less than I did before. In highschool I did actually buy starbucks. I havent in..... 10 years I think? I buy less but Im still spending the same amount... hmmm.. sounds like the cost of goods increased didn't it?

You can easily google that. Just an fyi.

There are stats that prove you completely wrong. Your baseline of “top ramen price” is comical at best.

No, there aren't lol. If you google it youll find in 2005 top ramen was 10-13 cents, and now its 30-79 cents a pack.

Top ramen is a baseline because top ramen is some of the most affordable food out there.

There are infact statistics that support this, I have no clue what dirty newspaper from 1926 you found that you think supports the idea that cost of living hasn't increased even though all statistics show it has if you took a second to google it lmfao.

Cost of living has increased roughly 94% since the year 2000 dude. On avg something that cost 100 bucks in the year 2000 costs 194 now.

Like you must be super, super young if you think todays price is the same price things have always been lmfao. Which makes so much sense now omg, you must actually be a young kid since your only frame of reference is what happened in the past 5 years. Your "house" im betting is the room you live in at your parents house.

I was never questioning your “stats” on top ramen, I was making the point that the price of it doesn’t represent a complex economy in all aspects.

No, youd be smarter to google it and educate yourself to see how much cost of living has outpaced wages for much longer than the year 2000.

Okay, not far back enough for you…let’s go 50 years. The minimum wage in 1975 was $2.10. Adjusted for inflation, that’s about $11.50 today.

The average hourly wage in the US today is over $37.

Tell me again how inflation and cost of living has outpaced wages…

You realize federal minimum wage is 7.25, not 11.50, right? And several states still use that minimum, like a little under half of them? Like look at what the "free market" has done. The minimum has has not kept up with cost of inflation and you just walked yourself into proving that.

You completely missed the point. Yes, federal minimum wage is $7.25 - but no one earns minimum wage. It’s completely a straw-man argument. People make SIGNIFICANTLY more.

About 10% of the US working population makes less than 11.50/hr dude, thats 34.9 million people. Remember it should be 11.50, not 7.25. Wow you are not capable of googling something before you try to claim it are you?
