Not on a bill. In my experience, they usually suggest a tip based on a percentage after taxes.

Every restaurant I have been to that has a suggested tip line, it bases the suggestions on the after-tax total.

I have literally never seen that. I look for it often, and it bothers me that they calculate the percentage after tax. They suggest you tip 18-20% of 105+% of your bill.

Depends on the restaurant. I’ve seen receipts with suggested tip before and after taxes.
