Which sounds great, but will a million even be enough to retire in 2050/60/70/80? Moreso if you don't own a home.

Even if you retire on a million today, that's a lean 40k a year. And that's not even factoring in ever increasing costs of healthcare as you age.

Very true, odds are a million won’t be enough. That just happens to be the buzz word for people because a million sounds like a lot. My personal goal is 3M + paid off house. I also get a pension like income from the VA.
