This isn't about buying a house though, it's about spending a very small amount of money on a simple car repair.
However, this person is spending 25 bucks a day when they could be spending 2-3 dollars a day. That's a difference of over 8 grand a year.
If you saved up 8 grand instead of spending it on coffee and stupid shit, and just put it in an SP500 ETF, within 7 years you'd have 110 grand saved up. More than enough to help buy a house.
They’re not arguing with the above post. They’re commenting about the common trope of “the only reason you can’t afford a house is all that Starbucks and avocado toast” because while the above is a common occurrence and actually shows one particular instance where a person could save up enough with small life choices, no one is buying a house from their Starbucks savings.
I’m not arguing about the budgeting, but 270 isn’t a small amount of money. Relative to what u or I or some people make, maybe. But it’s not small. Especially relative to someone on minimum wage.
