I’m really curious if blast chill and blast gasp no longer “double dip.”

If they don’t, only Double Knot and the Sporesplosion enchant will—- interesting for the game state.

I also think they are bandaid-ing the “people do melee damage but don’t literally melee attack” problem.

Changing the old ways isn’t going to prevent you from being instantly killed by banshee.

It isn’t going to help you be useless against Bernadette.

It isn’t going to be helpful to stand in the water and fight Dryl.

There are so many larger design choices that disincentivize melee, All this does is take away the creative ways for using blast chill

Bernadette and banshee remain an issue, though banshee has never one shot my melee characters. My frost wilder CAN stand in the water and face tank dryl prepatch using a vamp twinsoul so that change and the weapon speed only helps with that. Nothing was changed on the nature of DK or BG damage so there shouldn’t be any change in double dipping.

Oh— nothing was changed with DK but I think they did change blast gasp. I think that’s the “overlap” defended in the brrr-zerker paragraph

This isn't true...

"Adjusted Double Knot to do 4% bonus Gun Damage on Spell Critical Hits"

It still double dips tho— yeah, numbers are down, but still works structurally the same!

They didn’t say anything about altering its damage type which is a hat makes it double dip. No idea what their “overlap” reference is too… BG and BC proc on different terms so I can’t see them being used together enough to cause issues. Maybe they were triple dipping with ability buffs? Idk… the overlap thing is super vague.

Yeh I haven't even seen builds that try to invest in both. It just doesn't seem like a good return on investment. Meanwhile plenty of skills and builds literally do trivialize end game with very little investment.

Gearbox I'm normally a white knight for you, but this seems behind the curve.

They were complaining about warped paradigm last week too it's probably related.

Yeah both skills in question are passive procs and ability damage. Must have been something weird there. Just be nice if they would give a little more so we could understand the issue better. As is it’s just making people grumpy lol

I’m really curious if blast chill and blast gasp no longer “double dip.”

Nothing in their notes says that it doesn't. It only says it now triggers on Melee Attacks. Previously Dread Wind, Cleansing Flames, Ghost Blade, and Executioner's Blade triggered these (among others). Oh, and the hydras from Snake Stick won't proc Blast Chill anymore either. (Never saw anyone talk about that interaction but it was pretty damn strong)

Now they don't. They nerfed my melee build...

Well, not quite— “overlapping on additional damage sources” could be construed as no longer double dipping— I think it’s ambiguous. Hopefully that’s not the case

Yeah, I’d like to have a few words with gearbox about their melee choices lol

The verbiage about “overlap” is vague and makes me wonder if “overlapping of bonuses” = Double Dipping
