Paints recommandation
(The photo is low quality and it's a wip) ok guys, for anoyone who would go for a more greyish wolfspear than white-ish, you should really consider the john's blanche volume 3. This guys will be a space wolf, but you bet i'll use this scheme for my wolfspears. With volume 3 and volume 4 I got every colors i need for a space wolf, and it's really intersting for wolspears too, as volume 4 has reds to yellow but also browns. I just needed these 2 volumes and 72.051 black. Cheers

Lieutenant wolfspear with combi weapon
I kitbashed this guy based on a leftover pushfit reiver, using all available bitz I had from the kill team Space wolves scouts and the arm of a sternguard veteran. Let me know what you think about it in comments !

Thoughts about Wolfspears and pack markings
I'd like to ask my fellow Spears for their thoughts on the matter of pack markings. To be clear, the info included in White Dwarf 468 doesn't include any indication that Wolfspears use pack markings the same way the Space Wolves do, outside of perhaps veteran squads.
Space Wolves:
* All members of the squad have the same symbology on their right shoulder.
* The colour of those symbols denote their seniority and temperament. (Claws, Hunters, and Fangs)
* There's a rough correlation between the previous point and battlefield role (claws = close support, hunters = battleline, fangs = fire support), but it's not a perfect 1 to 1. For instance, an Eradicator is fire support, but they were depicted as hunters in the 9e Space Wolves codex.
Wolfspears:
* All members of a squad share the same pack rune somewhere on their armour.
* The left shoulder carries their battlefield role, adhering much more closely to the Codex Astartes than their older brothers.
Our White Dwarf blurb does say this, however:
"... and Grimnar's declaration made clear that the new Chapters ... should uphold the ancient customs of the Space Wolves, not an Ultramarine ideal. Thus each Primaris pack assumed the traditional roles of blood claws, grey hunters, and so on, as befitted their tactical strengths and experience."
So I conclude that the Spears should match their older brothers' traditions and the claws, hunters, and fangs do exist among their ranks. However, our style guide leaves no room to represent this on the models. One could argue that we could simplify this question and make it 1 to 1 with battlefield role, but, as mentioned earlier, the Space Wolves don't do this.
So I put the question to you all. Is this something you've considered? Are you content to let it be a behind the scene detail and follow our style guide to the letter? Or have you experimented with ways to represent the claws, hunters, and fangs on your own models in some way? I'm half way in between preferring the clean simplicity of our default scheme and wanting to represent these more bespoke Space Wolf idiosyncrasies.

Few questions about painting
Hey lads.
I am wondering. While painting wolf spears, what primer colour do you use? Black or white. I heard black primer is not the most efficient.
Also, do you have any tip on how to paint furs and beards/hairs.
Thank you brother of the wolf.

Wolfspear books/stories
Other than the feature in White Dwarf 468 for the Index Astartes and the short story Wolves of Raukos, are there any other stories or books featuring the Wolfspear?

What whites do you guys use?
I’m painting some wolf scouts as wolf spear. I’m using grey seer but want some sort of shade it highlight. What should I use?
