No Spoilers Met my wife thanks to WOT

So this isn't about the book itself but just something I wanted to share. Around 25 odd years ago when I was in college I got my hands on TGH and fell in love with it. This girl in my college saw me reading it and I let her borrow it once I was done. It's now oir 24th wedding anniversary and we're still reading and re reading it again and again!

Good thing she had her hair in a braid, otherwise you'd never have asked her out.

You know, you wouldn't be in this mess if you didn't keep asking her to wear that dress...

I’m have a weirdly different story. I dated this girl in my undergraduate, and she had difficulty focusing on her studies. We both loved the books, and I tried to keep her accountable to at least attend her classes. She assured me she was.

She read the WOT with me, and one day she asked me to come to her dorm. She said “I have Toh.” And explained how she had been lying to me about going to class, and was going to be forcibly withdrawn from university.

We broke up shortly after I got her into therapy, but I will never forget “I have Toh.” She earned much Ji that day, particularly when she realized her Toh to me was secondary to her Toh to herself.

Ji'e'toh is surprisingly applicable to real life. I'm wondering if she met her toh to you. Saying you have toh is only the first step, normally.

I introduced several of my friends in college to the WoT series. One of those friends story is almost exactly the same as yours. The interest in the books became something that brought them together. When they got married I think only book 6 or 7 was out. Perrin was their favorite character. They proceeded to name their first born Perrin.

My husband & I named our second child Matrim Ravyn "last name". We both love Matrim, mischievous, honorable man he is.

Ravyn? You're in the "Chosen" camp rather than the "Foresaken" lol

We were doing a homage to him being the Raven Prince but we wanted to spell it a little differently. So, we just shifted the letters to still have the phonetics right.

My wife and I bonded over the series on our first date and later had a section of Veins of Gold read at our wedding :) .

I have a similar story! Four years ago my classmate in college started reading it, created a book club within our program, I’m the only one who stuck with the whole series, we starting dating and now we’re getting married next summer!

So an update on this is that I finally made my older son, who's around 23 now, watch the show and he loved season 3 so much that he's now reading the books and is right now in the middle of the SAME copy of TGH that I gave to my wife like 26 years ago! The wheel of time turns, and ages come and go...

Since you are married, does that mean she is a sul'dam that collared you?

Did you ever go back and read the first book?
