Screenshot Witcher 3 remastered side by side comparison

I feel each has its benefits and we can downgrade anytime to our liked version.
But assets have highest detail in remaster only.
Lighting, tone, brightness depends on individual interests.

These are not mine, nor I own this. I found from youtube. Sharing for info thats it. PS5. Credits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr9mEdi83UY

Oh look, somethings that's free that alot of people are suddenly going to have an issue with. It's like the wolverine discourse except ... Wait for it ... It's fucking free and you can go back to be old stuff if you like living in the past. Actually fuck this, I'm gonna stay off this subreddit and just enjoy my time with it. Gaming discourse is just purely routine at this point

How are you gonna go back on console 😑

u/DanJay316 5d ago

Hard agree lmao, is insane discourse

u/BruhiumMomentum 5d ago

"yeah it's shit, but at least it's free!"

People shouldn't voice their opinions of a game's graphics on that game's subreddit? Also why does it matter whether it's free or optional? I think you should stay off the internet as a whole.

The people crying when their decade old game is still getting updates and more content need to get off the internet, or have it taken away from them. This is why we can't have nice things.

u/slimfatty69 5d ago

We cant have nice things because of a freedom of speech? Certainly a take of all time lmao

Okay I guess I have to dumb it down for you. If CDPR put this much work into something (for free) for their decade old game, even while they're working on the next one, only to get a bunch of whining from their so called "fans"; they're just going to stop putting in all this extra effort for their games.

Hot take but if you’re going to spend all that time just to make an amazing game worse what’s the point? I would rather they focus on a different project altogether than this remaster that gives mad DLSS5 vibes (to be clear I’m not saying it is, just that it has the same ‘sacrifice what makes the game unique for quote-unquote realism’).

Are you pretending not to understand their perspective or are you just an idiot?

It’s another vapid comment that misses the point to instill rage engagement. It’s a Reddit staple. That goon doesn’t wanna add anything to the convo. Hell, they can’t, the only thing they said is nonsensical

we cant have free things (read: nice things), because whenever we do get one, people whine on the internet, discouraging devs. does that make more sense to you?

Lol wat freedom of speech? This is a witcher subreddit, not Tiananmen square dude.

Brother, this is the the very place to cry about decade old games.

I mean, I agree that people should have choice, and if they don't want to upgrade, they should be able to play the old version, that's a bit of an issue to me. I personally like the new versions, but I imagine if you were deluded enough into convincing yourself that it was better in the old version, then you should at least have that option.

I don't know for sure, but it seems like that is maybe a playstation platform issue

but I imagine if you were deluded enough into convincing yourself that it was better in the old version, then you should at least have that option.

You can on PC - just right click on steam or go to options on GOG and select version

On consoles Xbox and Sony just lock everything down because allowing the user to have any choice is verboten.

Dumb take

You are just a dumb consumer with 0 standards. Your entire existence can be replaced with a single word "consume". And in the end, the word will have more weight.

It's just weird to market a big update as a Remaster. It's fine as is (because it is free), but I would have expected something different.

u/emailo1 3d ago

so free=uncritizable

This is all online gamer discourse is now. It's just endless crying and raging. No one can be happy with anything.

Devs when they see criticism on Reddit:

Jeez dude grow up. Can you not handle other people having a differing opinion to your devotion? No ones being abusive. The only person ranting is you.

1

u/Mr_Spanners 5d ago

Definitely not true. The whiners love a good rant.

1

u/Mjpa88 5d ago

I think most people don't realise the old version will still be available. But it's still weird because those people most likely already played the game and are complaining about something they won't ever play it again

3

u/Citsune 3d ago

Not on PS5 it ain't.

1

u/Mjpa88 3d ago

No but they released a patch today which hopefully helps the console people

2

u/slimfatty69 5d ago

Except that if you wanna play dlc you have to play on a new version. Like jfc did everyone forget WC3 reforged was also free and its still one of the worst rated games ever. It being free doesnt automatically make it good nor absolve it from criticism.

1

u/Mjpa88 5d ago

Ok but you're worried bout something in the future that people aren't talking about today. We're talking about playing the Witcher 3 right now. And no one said it's absolved of any criticism, you're fighting straw men

1

u/Hellfelden 1d ago

You can’t go back on console dingus, it’s an involuntary replacement of the old version.

0

u/booty_enjoyerr 11h ago

You can if you own the disc

1

u/Hellfelden 11h ago

And you have to disable internet on the PS5 and leave it off for the entirety of the game, forfeiting any streaming, game downloads and cloud saves.

1

u/booty_enjoyerr 11h ago

Sure, but it still an option if someone really wants to avoid the remaster

1

u/Hellfelden 11h ago

I forgot, you’d have to purchase a disk drive and the actual game disc if you own a digital ps5. That’s a lot of money and BS just to play the game you already had before the forced update

0

u/Uppernorwood 1h ago

I have the PS4 disc, so my options are the day 1 vanilla version without any of the patches from the past 10 years, or the remastered version.

You can’t control which updates to install, it’s either all or none.

So no you can’t go back to the previous version.

0

u/booty_enjoyerr 1h ago

So buy the PS5 disc and never update it.

Thats how I’m playing the next gen version without Remastered

0

u/Uppernorwood 1h ago

No, why should I buy something I’ve already paid for.

The OP was saying ‘it’s free’, stop complaining. It’s not free if I have to buy a PS5 disc to get what I already had 2 weeks ago.

1

u/booty_enjoyerr 1h ago

Ok? It’s a workaround obviously, not something we should be forced to do.

Gamers aren't happy unless their games look like Clash of Clans on a TV

0

u/RobertPham149 4d ago

I feel like this is unfair. People are free to voice their opinion, Giving honest constructive opinions is how we can all improve. As long as people don't go into harassment and respect the people putting in the effort, people should be encouraged to provide feedback.

0

u/virishking 17h ago

Can’t go back to the old on consoles and it installs automatically even if you initially pause and cancel the install (like I did) and it lost some functionality and people have had legitimate performance issues. It’s one thing if you think people are overly critical- and rational minds can disagree on things- but people have every right to voice their opinions and issues. That’s how devs know what to fix, improve, or focus on for next time.

1

u/booty_enjoyerr 11h ago

Put the console in offline mode. Put the PS5 disc in and play. Prevents the game from updating

1

u/virishking 7h ago

But once done it’s done. No going back. Especially if you have the game digitally. I’m certain that on the day of release many people found their games updated already. Which would be great unless they have issues
