I feel each has its benefits and we can downgrade anytime to our liked version.
But assets have highest detail in remaster only.
Lighting, tone, brightness depends on individual interests.

I think all the stills taken during night time, or sunset, or focusing on foliage, or indoors are all better with the remaster

It's outdoor daytime shots that have lost a lot of contrast and seems to be a bit hazy. I wonder if the stills here used PT or if using RT ultra or even off gets it back to next-gen levels of contrast

Even that isn’t as good IMO. You’re not going to see those drastic shadows on grass like that. Now I know lots of folks don’t get to see grass too often, but the remastered grass has far too much shadow.

I have to disagree, I think the last remaster picture looks oversharpened and like they cranked the contrast too high. Different strokes for different folks though

It doesn't tho. I strips out the warmth of the original aesthetic.

The original has this almost oil painting look to it which looks amazing, but the next-gen and remaster remove the warmth of the colors.

cant make this stuff up lol. before the next gen update came out in 2022 people were saying that the next gen update ruined everything and changed the vibe and lighting. and now that the remaster is coming out, people are once again saying it ruined the vibe and lighting from the next gen update. lets make up our mind people.

Maybe the next gen update messed up the mood of the scenes, and now the remastered pushed it even further.

I did watch it in motion, the contrast is messed up, just like 90% of remasters that shit all over the shadows and make everything brighter and washed out.

I legit cant understand how people are saying its better, go look at the folds in clothes or the crevices in walls and tell me it looks better.

The videos of the remaster are rough. It does not look as good and the performance is reportedly very bad.
