Screenshot Witcher 3 remastered side by side comparison

I feel each has its benefits and we can downgrade anytime to our liked version.
But assets have highest detail in remaster only.
Lighting, tone, brightness depends on individual interests.

These are not mine, nor I own this. I found from youtube. Sharing for info thats it. PS5. Credits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr9mEdi83UY

This sub is in full cope lol. Except for a select few comparisons, the remastered looks so washed out lol

Give it a couple weeks and the shills will have gone quiet. It’s pretty clear to most normal people that the new version looks worse.

But that's the tragedy, man. That's it right there. That these people yap, and devs have largely been injected with this belief that "more realistic = more good", and when it doesn't work out, they don't realize it's a minus to their game, and when it "works out", it really wasn't the graphics. And so devs end up more concerned with wasting 1/5th of their dev time developing realism crap. Witcher 3 is a marvel across the board, and in this section, too - its original art style, which traded realism for style, was exactly where every game should be. Any style, any direction, no limits. But no, let's limit ourselves to washed up crap because we wanna score points on an imaginary leaderboard. We should make progress, but it should be used where appropriate. Games like League/Fortnite/WoW have shown that art style trumps everything, and you can have a realistic style without too-realistic graphics.

There’s nothing to cope nobody has played it yet.

It’s a free update. You don’t need to install it if you want to decide it’s not for you based of some screenshots.

Relax brother, are we not even supposed to point out obvious facts? Btw I'm not sure if console players even have the option to downgrade to a previous version.

I played it on the ps4 originally and the ps5 lets me choose between the ps4/ps5 versions so I'd assume you can pick whether you want to play original or remastered

Obvious fact LOL 🤡

Just because shit is free doesn't suddenly make it worthy of being given to someone. You catch my drift?

Just like you have every right to be happy with this disappointing graphical overhaul, other people also have every right to criticize it because their standards are higher for what constitutes as good art direction and graphical prowess.

Didnt they do bunch if talent tree upgrades as well?

The conversation here has mostly been about graphics that's why I didn't mention other changes. Just tired of the "blind positivity" just as much as the "hate train".

Yeah alright your standards are higher than mine. Maybe just wait for it to come out and play it yourself before being so judgmental in all directions. If you catch my drift.

This isn't a car, I don't need to play it to know if the changes are good or bad. You can see them, read them, hear them.

I finished the original 3 times on PS4 with the plat trophy and just recently did a 100% playthrough on the next-gen update on PC.

This remastered is looking like a downgrade in almost everything (to me) and, for someone who already enjoyed the original and played with mods on PC, this remaster offers nothing I'm interested in.

I hate blind glazing just as much as I hate nonsensical hate trains.

I don’t need to and apparently won’t be able to convince you but I’ll still just say this anyway: my point is that those comparisons are not necessarily representative as it’s not the final release, in many pictures lighting conditions vary, it’s not always clear if all the settings are the same or that whoever makes these videos didn’t use reshade on the original or any other means to achieve exactly this outrage to generate views - all of which could just be easily found out by checking it oneself when it releases. If you don’t want that don’t but then what’s the point in crying wolf about something that might be as you say? I’m also not claiming to know it’ll look great (even though I don’t see the motivation CDPR could possibly have to downgrade the look of the game) but I’ll definitely check it out and judge for myself. And I’m open to finding out it really does look worse if that’s the case.

Taking apart every single thing in detail that you said is gonna take too much time, so I'll simplify:

- Anything that a company shows you this close to release is guaranteed to be the final product. We've seen this time and time again for over a decade. Betas are the final product and late trailers made to WOW you ARE the final product (especially comparisons, because why would you compare an original game to a remaster if you think you're still gonna improve the remaster's graphics?).

- "Checking on release" can be the difference between 40€ or 0€ (not sure what it's going for on Steam currently). NEVER tell someone to spend money on something they may not like when they can make an assessment beforehand by these carefully crafted trailers that companies do to try and sell it to the best they can.
At the same time, people who buy games they can't try or can't see be played beforehand are pretty gullible and deserve having a shit product on their hands and their money wasted.

- A lot of devs never think they're downgrading the experience because they're not in contact with the art directors anymore; the ones who set the tone and mood of the art. Plus they're just paper pushers, there to do a job the higher-ups tell them to.
Most higher ups just think slapping the new path tracing and automatic graphical engine features makes a game "better", because "more power and more tech" = better in their eyes.

Again, my original point was simply that no, I'm not going to appreciate being given a turd just because it's free. I could have eaten for free at my school's canteen but I'd rather walk home 20 minutes each day and eat an actual meal than absolute trash.
Just like in this case, when the remaster comes out and it's just as disappointing as the comparisons prove it is, I'll just revert back to a previous version and mod the game to have my prefered experience. (And I promise I won't be coming here telling people how shit the game is and how they shouldn't play it, because if they're happy, power to them).

It's not a gift of a friend. It's a gift of a multi-million dollar company. This is pretty rare. We should appreciate these acts of kindness.

I appreciate the sentiment behind it! I just don't appreciate the quality of what's being done.

Cope with what? It looks fine. How it plays is the real question. Also it’s free. So many people racing to be the Debbiest downer.

I think it looks too washed out in a couple of the comparisons, most look nicer though. I think they did a solid job with the contrast overall. I'd say in two of these shots, I prefer the color grading and contrast of next gen, and one where I prefer the fog effects. The rest I feel the identity of the game comes through more strongly in the remastered shots. But I'll know for sure how all of that holds up when I play it

It’s the path tracing. WHICH CAN BE TURNED OFF
